The Open 2024 Winner Odds
Scotti Scheffler has been installed as the 11/2 favourite to win The Open for the first time. The two-time Masters winner has nine other top-10 major finishes on his CV, including T8 at The Open three years ago, while he's already won six titles this year.
Rory McIlroy is next in the running at 15/2 to finally end his 10-year search for a fifth major. The Northern Irishman came agonisingly close at last month's US Open when he had to settle for runner-up behind Bryson DeChambeau.
Xander Schauffele can be backed at 13/1, Ludvig Aberg is available at 15/1, the aforementioned DeChambeau is 19/1, while defending champion Brian Harman is out at 67/1 to become the first back-to-back Open winner since Padraig Harrington (2007 & 2008).

What type of player profile wins the The Open?
The Open Championship, or British Open as it's also known, is unique from other major tournaments as it's always played on a links course. That being the case there are definite players who thrive in links conditions, which are usually windy with slow greens and tight lies. This doesn't necessarily rule out players with little experience of playing on UK links courses before as there have been plenty of exceptions.
The tournament is played over a circuit of ten different courses (listed below), each differ in characteristic and difficulty. Pot bunkers and the elements are the courses' biggest defence and on benign days weather-wise scoring can be good.
Rough can be sparse at some courses but 'out of bounds' comes into play a lot and the fairway bunkers are designed to catch out players who don't have good course management.
As with any major, the favourites have their fair share of wins in The Open, but there have also been some winners at big odds including Todd Hamilton in 2004 and Paul Lawrie in 1999.
