Premier League Relegation Odds 2023/24
Which Premier League Team to Bet on to be Relegated?
Premier League relegation odds are never too kind on newly-promoted teams, but there are many other things to consider before consigning a side to the drop. New managers, new signings and Premier League experience count for a lot in the battle for survival, so let’s take a look at the latest odds for relegation.
Sheffield United
Sheffield United were down in League One as recently as 2017 but the side bounced back into the Premier League under Chris Wilder in 2019. The Blades have yo-yoed down to the Championship and back up again under Paul Heckingbottom, who in December 2023 became the first Premier League managerial casualty of the season. Wilder is back at the helm but was unable to keep his beloved club free from the drop, with United once again relegated following a 5-1 defeat to Newcastle at the end of April.
Burnley
Vincent Kompany’s Burnley ran away with the Championship last season, losing just three games and amassing over 100 points. With an emphasis on possession-based play and high-pressing, this Burnley team is a far cry from sides of the past under Sean Dyche. Life back in the Premier League has been very difficult so far with wins few and far between. Now, after a most recent 4-1 defeat to Newcastle, The Clarets are five points adrift of safety and are as far out as 1/100 to go down.
Luton Town
Luton Town were a non-league side just ten years ago after going into administration in 2007, but four promotions in that time now sees them rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s best teams. The bookies initially had Rob Edwards’ side as the outright favourites for relegation this season, but they've surprised many so far with a series of impressive performances against the top teams and wins over Newcastle and Brighton. While many of their games have been entertaining and full of goals, they've struggled to put points on the board in recent weeks. The Hatters' relegation was all but confirmed on the penultimate weekend of the season as a 3-1 defeat to West Ham meant that an enormous goal difference swing is now the only way they can remain in the division.
Nottingham Forest
The summer departure of Brennan Johnson to Tottenham was a big blow, but given that Forest signed 30 players following their promotion in 2022, balancing the books became necessary. Forest were involved in a relegation battle for the majority of last season but found some late form to beat the drop by four points. They've struggled for inconsistency so far this season and in March were docked four points for breaching Premier League profit, which has been an untimely blow to their safety hopes. Despite that, Forest have managed to keep themselves afloat up, sitting three points above Luton and holding a significantly more positive goal difference than The Hatters, which has all but guaranteed safety for at least another season.

Premier League Relegation Betting Markets
All bookmakers will offer Premier League relegation odds but selecting one team to go down isn’t the only way you can bet. Here are some of the other popular relegation betting markets.
To Be Relegated
Simply select one side to be relegated in this market. Sheffield United are the red-hot bookies’ favourite here.
Relegation Treble
Taking things further is the relegation treble market, in which bettors wager on all three sides to go down. It’s a bit like a mini accumulator: for the bet to be successful, all three selections must be relegated.
To Finish Bottom
Who do you think will finish bottom of the Premier League table? Have your say here.
Number of Promoted Teams Relegated
Many promoted clubs overperform in their first season in the Premier League, buoyed by the prospect of playing against some of the best players in the world. Bookmakers don’t think that’ll happen this time around, with Luton and Sheffield being two sides tipped for relegation back to the Championship. Burnley were the third side to come up last season.
To Stay Up
You might have a hunch that one of the bookies’ favourites for relegation will outperform the gloomy predictions – you can wager on it in this market.
Winner/To Finish Bottom
Premier League betting sites also take double wagers on the teams to finish top and bottom in the season. You can make your predictions at both ends in this market.

Premier League Relegation History
Since the 95/96 season, three clubs have been relegated from the Premier League every year. Leicester City were relegated last season against the odds – their squad included a host of high-profile international players, including James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, Timothy Castagne and Youri Tielemans.
In the past managers have referred to the “magic 40” in regard to how many points are generally required to guarantee survival in a 38-game season, but the actual number can be higher or lower than that. Let’s take a look at every team to be relegated from the Premier League, and the points total of the team finishing one place beneath the cut-off.
