FA Cup Betting Markets
Interested in FA Cup betting odds on a range of different football markets? Take a look at the list below which details the most popular bets on both football generally and the competition itself.
- Outright Winner — Simply pick the winner of this season’s FA Cup.
- To Reach the Final — If you fancy two teams to make it to the final, you can place that bet in this market.
- Match Result — Picking the match result means selecting either a home win, an away win or a draw in any FA Cup game. Extra-time and penalties come into play in the fifth round, so just be careful when wagering in this market – most bookmakers settle match result bets after 90 minutes.
- To Go Through — In the earlier rounds of the FA Cup, if a match ends in a draw, a replay is required to determine which team goes through to the next round. The ‘to go through’ market covers this eventuality, paying out when the team you’ve backed progresses via a replay. This betting market is also useful when extra-time and penalties are possible.
- Correct Score — One of the hardest football bets is picking the correct score at full-time. Punters can do this at both 90 minutes and 120 minutes.
- Goalscorer Markets — There are three popular goalscoring markets: first goalscorer in the match, next goalscorer in the match, and anytime goalscorer in the match.
- FA Cup Top Scorer — You can place a bet on who will be the FA Cup’s leading marksmen in the season. Remember there are two preliminary and four qualifying rounds before the official first round of the FA Cup. This means that lower-league teams outside the EFL will play more games than the bigger clubs if they manage to progress to that stage. So the golden boot could end up in the hands of a part-timer.
- Player Props — On any given matchday punters can hone their betslips to focus on one player in particular. Fancy James Maddison to score or assist for Spurs? These are kinds of player prop bets you can place.
- Accumulators — Also known as accas, these bets comprise of multiple individual selections. All of the selections must win for the overall bet to win.

Which teams were the biggest outsiders to win the FA Cup?
There have been some major shocks thrown up throughout the history of the FA Cup.
While it is not uncommon to see smaller sides from the lower leagues upset the odds by knocking top-flight clubs out of the competition, it is much rarer to see those types of clubs go the distance and actually win it.
However, there have been times when this has happened and an underdog has defied the belief of most to lift the coveted trophy.

What is the format of the FA Cup?
Every FA Cup round is a straight knock-out, with replays arranged in the event of a draw; if the replay also ends in a draw, extra-time and penalties is required. In the fifth round, replays are removed altogether.
How many teams are in the FA Cup?
Every club in the top ten divisions in England is eligible to take part in the FA Cup. The lowest-ranked sides compete in two preliminary rounds and four qualifying rounds. Once these rounds have finished, professional sides from League One and League Two enter the first round proper, before Premier League and Championship teams join in round three. 80 teams take part in round one, 40 in round two, and 64 in round three.
