Rory McIlroy Can Feed off Home Support

Rory McIlroy heads to Royal Portrush looking to channel the energy of the home crowd as he aims for a second Open Championship title.

While his major form has dipped slightly since completing the career Grand Slam with a historic Masters win earlier this year, the Northern Irishman showed signs of a resurgence with T6 at the Travelers Championship followed by a runner-up finish at the Scottish Open last weekend, where he looked far more composed and upbeat.

Returning to Portrush, McIlroy will be driven by local support and the opportunity to cap off his major season in style at a boosted 8/1 with Paddy Power.

Tommy Fleetwood Each-Way (1/5 for 10 Places)
22/1

Tommy Fleetwood Poised for Major Breakthrough

Tommy Fleetwood returns to Royal Portrush, the scene of his runner-up finish behind Shane Lowry at The Open in 2019, and he’ll be hoping to go one better this time.

Since then, the Englishman has added two more top-10 finishes at The Open - T4 in 2022 and T10 in 2023 - showing he’s no stranger to contending in this major.

Fleetwood's recent form is solid, with T4 finishes at both the Truist Championship and Charles Schwab Challenge, along with a 7th place at the RBC Heritage, and a heartbreaking runner-up at the Travellers Championship just last month when he looked destined to clinch that elusive first PGA Tour win.

Known for his excellent links play, Fleetwood looks ready to make another serious run - and at 22/1 with Betfred, he’s a strong shout for this week.

Justin Rose Each-Way (1/5 for 10 Places)
50/1
#AD 18+. 5 Places 1/5 Odds 1-2-3-4-5 (enhanced from 1/4 Odds 1-2-3-4) from 00:01 Monday 31st March. If 16 to 21 runners the place terms will be 1/4 odds 1-2-3-4. If 11 to 15 horses run the place terms will become 1/5 the odds 1-2-3-4 and standard place terms will apply if 10 or fewer horses run. Rule 4 may apply, and general Racing Rules apply.

Justin Rose a Lively Outsider at 50/1

Justin Rose may somehow only have one major title to his name - the 2013 US Open, but his consistent performances on golf’s biggest stages tell a different story.

The Englishman has accumulated 21 other top-10 finishes across the majors, including two runner-up spots at The Open, the most recent of which came last time out in 2024. Earlier this year, he came painfully close to a second major, losing a tense play-off to Rory McIlroy at The Masters.

Most recently, Rose impressed with a final-round 63 at the Scottish Open, finishing 6th and proving he's in great nick.

At 50/1 each-way, the former Olympic gold medallist looks like excellent value and is certainly one to keep an eye on this week.

The Open 2025 First Round Tee Times
