What are the odds for The Open?
Heading into the tournament Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy is the 15/2 favourite to lift the Claret Jug. Those odds imply a 11.8% chance that Rory will win this major for the second time in his career, nine years after his first.
Next in the market we have Scottie Scheffler who has six wins to his name on the PGA Tour. Scheffler finished second in the PGA Championship this year and will want to improve on his highest finish at The Open which was T8 back in 2021. The American can be backed at 9/1 with most trusted betting sites.
Slightly longer in the market at 11/1 is Jon Rahm. The winner of the green jacket at this year’s Masters in April. ‘Rahmbo’s’ best finish at The Open came in 2021 when it was held at Royal St George’s down in Kent.
Reigning Open Champion Cameron Smith has been chalked up at a general 16/1 to follow up his success at St Andrews 12 months ago, while five-time major winner Brooks Kopeka rounds off the top five in the market, also at 16/1.
