Match Preview: Austria vs Turkey
Austria have been one of the most watchable and entertaining teams of the tournament so far. Ralf Rangnick's men pushed favourites France all the way in a narrow 1-0 defeat, before they bounced back to record a 3-1 win over Poland and, impressively, a 3-2 triumph over the Netherlands. These victories saw them leapfrog France to top spot in Group D and place them in a more favourable side of the draw.
They now head into the Turkey clash full of confidence with eight wins from their last 10 matches, which includes a 6-1 hammering of Turkey in March, while they've only been beaten twice in 19 matches; 14 of which have been wins.
Turkey knows firsthand, from that 6-1 loss, just how tough an opponent Austria can be. Their form has been indifferent since the teams last met: they have won twice, lost twice, and drawn. Two of those wins came in the group stages against Georgia (3-1) and Czech Republic (2-1), with a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Portugal sandwiched in between. They ultimately finished second on an inferior head-to-head record against Portugal.
Best Betting Markets for Austria vs Turkey
Knockout stage matches can often be cagey and cautious as teams look to minimise risk, but it's difficult to envision a guarded encounter on Tuesday night when two fearless and energetic teams take to the field looking to put on a show at the Red Bull Arena.
Both teams to score is a good place to start at 4/5, with this bet landing in two of each side's three group stage games. In fact goals could well be on the menu with all three of Turkey's group stage games containing three or more goals and two of Austria's, with over 2.5 goals looking the way to go at 19/20.
Austria to win and both teams to score is priced at 31/10 to come in for the third straight game, while they are priced at 3/1 to win by a one goal margin.
