Tour de France 2023 Odds: Jonas Vingegaard red-hot favourite
We’re being absolutely spoilt in this year’s Tour de France as we head into closing stages of the 110th edition of the famous bike race.
We've been treated to some compelling drama between defending champion Jonas Vingegaard and rival Tadej Pogačar, but has a decisive blow now been struck?
Here’s an updated look at the General Classification odds, plus the race for a podium finish...
Jonas Vingegaard is on the cusp of winning his second successive Tour de France after he stretched his lead at the summit to a whopping 7min 35secs on Stage 17.
Vingegaard was previously a 1min 48secs up on his rival after he blew away the field to win the Stage 16 time trial in what was a simply phenomenal performance by the race leader.
This seemed to take the wind out of Pogacar's sails as he had nothing left in the tank during a gruelling Stage 17 in which he lost track of the Dane with 15km to go.
As a result, Vingegaard is now a minuscule 1/1000 to go on and claim the Yellow Jersey, with Pogacar out at 50/1. With the General Classification battle now effectively over, Pogacar is now likely to seek another stage win, providing he still has the legs.
The fight for the third and final spot on the podium is still on-going, although it's very much advantage Adam Yates at the moment after the UAE Team Emirates rider opened up a 1m 16s lead over Carlos Rodriguez in fourth.
Yates, who finished fourth in 2016, is now odds-on to make it onto this year's podium for the first time in the Tour de France, with Rodriguez drifting out to 9/1.
Adam's brother Simon (6/1) is a further 18s behind Rodriguez in fifth, followed by Pello Bilbao (7/1), and Stage 5 winner Jai Hindley (14/1).
Meanwhile, Giulio Ciccone is now odds-on to be crowned King of the Mountains, ahead of Felix Gall (7/2) and Vingegaard (5/1).
We're sure to be in store for some more epic drama over the final days, and we simply can't wait for it.
