Stadium Municipal is where Liverpool will play as they meet Toulouse once again on Thursday evening, the English club cruised to a 5-1 victory at Anfield a fortnight ago.
Only Xabi Alonso’s high flying Leverkusen have scored more goals in this competition than Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, the Reds are just one of three teams to have maximum points at the halfway stage.
Toulouse vs Liverpool Tips
The visitors are around 4/9 to win this clash in France, there’s plenty of attacking talent and I’m sure they’ll be wanting to put things right after an underwhelming 1-1 draw with Luton over the weekend. There appears to be no new injury doubts from the Liverpool camp so we should so a relatively strong side from the get go.
Since that hammering from Liverpool, Toulouse have lost both games in Ligue 1. Montpellier beat them 3-0 whilst newcomers, Le Havre, left it very late to steal all three points in what was a shock result.
10 of Liverpool’s 12 wins this season have featured at least three goals, they should have easily won at Kenilworth Road on Sunday given their huge chance creation but wasteful finishing that let them down.
We saw the gulf in class when these two met at Anfield in the third gameweek, there were 29 shots, seven big chances, and 4.23xG across the 90 minutes that night. Klopp’s side dominated the majority of the contest and I expect them to have plenty of joy in France, a win qualifies them for the knockout stages.
Liverpool’s statistics are amongst the very best in this competition. They’re number one for ‘Shots on Target’, ‘Expected Goals’ and ‘Big Chances Created’ and are almighty favourites to win this competition.
With the attack fully fit, I’m confident that we’ll see at least three goals here on Thursday night. We know that opposition sides have plenty of joy when hosting Liverpool, all eight sides have scored against Klopp’s men this term.
The strike rate of the proposed selection is strong, and could have even been better if Darwin Nunez and co could put away their chances on a consistent basis. Toulouse should contribute in what should be a high-scoring away victory.
I’ve taken a goal scorer for my bigger priced selection: it’s Toulouse’s number 9 who I’m backing to find the back of the net once again.
The Dutchman scored at Anfield and also bagged over the weekend. He’s the main threat for his side in an attacking sense and has been a regular goal scorer for a number of seasons now across Holland and France respectively.
Dallinga has scored in two matches from three in this competition, and he’s the penalty taker for his side which is an added bonus if his side were to be awarded one.
I’m still not convinced about this Liverpool defence, they’re certainly there to be got at. Toulouse racked up 1.16xG at Anfield despite the heavy defeat. Carlez Martinez’s side have scored in all six matches here this campaign which includes a 1-1 draw with PSG back in August, confidence will be high in that respect.
In Ligue 1, Dallinga has accumulated 4.61xG, however he’s scored just three times. He averaged a goal every 197 minutes in his debut season with the club and is only expected to get better.
With Toulouse’s consistency in finding the back of the net at home and Liverpool’s defensive issues on the road, I’m confident the hosts can find the back of the net. Dallinga is the danger man, the price appeals at a juicy 3/1.
