Tottenham vs Bodo/Glimt Prediction: Confirmed Team News & Bet Builder Tip

Tottenham and Bodo/Glimt lock horns in London tonight for the first leg of their Europa League semi-final, with kick-off soon upon us at 8pm.
Ange Postecoglou’s side head into the first leg as the hot favourites in the betting to overcome the Norwegian champions, but the hosts know they face a tough test against this season's surprise package, who will be fighting tooth and nail to take a result back to Norway.
Read on for Tom Winch’s predictions and betting tips below, featuring a 3/1 Bet Builder, plus the confirmed team news.
Tottenham vs Bodo/Glimt Prediction
Tottenham vs Bodo/Glimt Preview
Kjetil Knutsen has seen his side knock-out Twente, Olympiacos and Lazio in previous rounds, while Bodo have also beaten Porto, Braga and Besiktas this term, with an impressive draw in Nice and a narrow defeat at Old Trafford.
Spurs fans will be confident; this is a fantastic opportunity to see their side reach another European final. Considering they’re playing a small club from an isolated area, it would be pretty shameful if they were to be knocked out. That’s no insult to this Norwegian side, but we must appreciate the gulf in wealth and prestige between the two sides.
The neutrals will cheer on the visitors whilst Spurs fans will know that their side is far from convincing on the pitch.
Tottenham vs Bodo/Glimt Betting Tips
Backing Tottenham to win any football match this season has been tricky. Their Premier League campaign has been dismal. With four games to go they are 16th, having lost 19 of 34 matches; they've managed six clean sheets and only the three relegated sides boast a worse xGA figure. I wouldn’t consider the 3/10 price on offer for a home win, even with their upcoming opponents.
Bodo finished 9th in the League phase, scoring 14 and conceding 11 in eight outings. BTTS - Yes, landed in all but one of their fixtures. Knutsen’s men have bagged in five of six knockout matches inside 90 minutes. They failed to score against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico a fortnight ago, but given they were leading 2-0 in the tie and led up until the death, there was little incentive to find the back of the net.
We know what Spurs are like; they have one style of football. They’ll create chances here but will leave themselves vulnerable at the opposite end. The English side bagged 17 times in the League phase, whilst conceding nine.
Ange’s men scored in every game with BTTS - Yes paying out in five. Earning a victory here is mightily important given the conditions and Bodo/Glimt’s impressive record at Aspmyra Stadion.
My second selection is a three-part bet builder focusing on a player from either team.
Dejan Kulusevski has arguably been Spurs’ best player this season. The Swedish international has had limited minutes in recent weeks but I’m confident he starts from the first whistle.
Dejan has averaged 0.80 SOT per 90 in home matches across the Premier League and Europa League this season, although he’s featured in a midfield role several times. It’s likely that Kulu starts on the right side of attack on Thursday night, which will boost his chances of hitting the target.
His foul numbers are brilliant. Across the same two competitions as mentioned previously, our man has averaged 1.82 fouls per 90. He’s aggressive and isn’t afraid to take one for the team.
Kasper Hogh is the man Spurs will be looking out for. The 24-year-old has scored seven times in the competition, no player has scored more. We can back Hogh to register a SOT at 6/4 which seems a brilliant price. That boosts the value of the bet builder significantly.
Bodo’s main man has averaged 0.71 goals per 90 so far in this competition. His 1.02 SOT per 90 shows that he’s a clinical finisher. Hogh has scored four goals in as many games in the new Eliteserien campaign, he’s a man on fine form. Bodo will get chances and I’m confident one will land at Kasper’s feet during the contest.
Tottenham vs Bodo/Glimt Confirmed Team News
Andreas Helmersen scored and was sent off in extra time against Lazio, meaning he’s one of three visiting players suspended tonight, as are Patrick Berg and Hakon Evjen.
Tottenham made a number of changes for the heavy defeat at Liverpool, with Postecoglou expected to bring back the likes of Pedro Porro, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.
