After becoming US Open champion on Sunday, Bryson DeChambeau urged tour officials to end the civil war that prevents him and the other LIV Golf players from competing here.
Rory McIlroy will be absent as he is taking a break from golf to deal with the disappointment of blowing a two-shot lead in his quest for a fifth Major.
Of those who will tee off, world number one Scottie Scheffler, is the clear favourite to add to his five titles of 2024.
US PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele, who won here in 2022, is 7/1 to continue his fine run of form with Collin Morikawa at 10/1 following a recent second-place finish at The Memorial.
Travelers Championship Predictions
It’s hard to ignore Scheffler after what he has achieved this year and, although he disappointed at the US Open, he could easily bounce back with a sixth title win of 2024.
The two-time Masters champion finished outside the top-40 for the first time since the CJ Cup in October 2022, which speaks volumes about his consistency.
And he has the perfect game to shoot low at a course that has become synonymous with low scoring for several years.
Keegan Bradley topped out with a score of 23 under par last year and Scheffler is built to do something similar as he ranks higher than anyone else on the PGA Tour for strokes gained approaching the green - a key metric at Rover Highlands.
Aside from the world number one, Ludvig Aberg, who led the US Open after 36 holes in just his third Major start, could provide some value here.
The in-form Swede has shown an affinity for classical courses and possesses an elite all-around game ideally suited for TPC River Highlands' Pete Dye design.
Ranking highly in approach play and putting, Aberg seems less prone to a post-Major hangover than some favourites, having finished T10 and T5 in the tournaments that followed the Masters and US PGA Championship earlier this year.
The birdies are expected to be bountiful at the Tour's shortest lay-out, so elite ball-strikers like Aberg could thrive.
Corey Conners, who tied for ninth at River Highlands in 2023, ranks second on the PGA Tour in approach play - a key stat for this second-shot course.
The consistent Canadian had a solid U.S. Open and could provide value at longer odds on a course that suits his game
