Seventh tier Horsham set up Tuesday’s replay after managing a sensational 3-3 draw when the two sides met 11 days ago in South Yorkshire. An 82nd minute equaliser from Tom Richards was enough to force Barnsley to make the trip down to Sussex, although bookmakers do not fancy the hosts chances this evening, being priced all the way out at 9/1 to get the win inside 90 minutes. For those who are looking to back Horsham to qualify for the second round 11/2 is available.
Despite only winning one of their last four league matches, Barnsley remain in the League One play-off zone. The latest outing for the Tykes saw them beaten 3-0 on the road at Derby, and there is no denying they will not want the humiliation of losing on Tuesday to a team that sits four tiers below them in the English football pyramid.
Horsham vs Barnsley Tips
This will be Horsham’s eighth game in the FA Cup so far this season and they have already knocked out opposition from a higher level when seeing off Dorking. Unfortunately however, we see their journey coming to an end this evening and for our main play, we are backing Barnsley to win the match with both teams scoring.
At the time of writing 6/4 is widely available with several betting sites including William Hill. The visitors have only kept one clean sheet in their last five, with eight of their last 11 matches featuring at least three goals.
Ultimately Barnsley are a League One side, and one who could well be in the hunt for promotion this season. We expect a professional performance from Neil Collins’ side here as he may opt not to make as many changes to his side as he did at Oakwell.
Horsham may have been a little lucky to have scored three goals against Barnsley in the first meeting, with all three of their shots on target finding the net, but in front of their own fans we think there is reason to believe they can get on the scoresheet once again.
At 14/1 we’ve taken a punt on Charlie Hester-Cook finding the net for Horsham. The midfielder has six goals in total this season including a hat-trick a week ago against Chichester City. This same bet is just 8/1 with bet365, so we’d certainly recommend taking the much juicer offering from Sky Bet.
