Following the Euro 2024 curtain-raiser between Germany and Scotland, fellow Group A sides Hungary and Switzerland lock horns at the Cologne Stadium on Saturday 15th June, live on ITV at 2pm (BST).
With hosts Germany likely to prove a tough nut to crack on home soil, the outcome of this fixture could be crucial. It's Switzerland that have been installed as the 13/10 favourites to open their tournament with an important win, while Hungary are priced at 13/5 to grab the three points. Alternatively, a draw can be backed at 9/4.

Hungary vs Switzerland Head-to-Head Statistics
According to the history books, this match-up is pretty one-sided, with Hungary stamping 30 wins on the board compared to just 11 from Switzerland, while just five of the 46 meetings have ended all square.

Match Preview: Hungary vs Switzerland
Hungary qualified automatically for Euro 2024 after they topped Group G, unbeaten, ahead of runners-up Serbia to make their second successive European Championship.
This is a side who are not to be underestimated. Under the expertise of boss Marco Rossi, Hungary came agonisingly close to progressing out of the Euro 2020 'Group of Death' which featured France, Germany, and Portugal; they may not have won a game but they did claim two very impressive draws against France and Germany.
Fast-forward to Euro 2024 and Hungary head into their opening game against Switzerland unbeaten in nearly two years - and lets not forget they thrashed England 4-0 at Wembley in the Nations League - which will give the Magyars confidence to claim what would be only their third European Championship victory.
The focus may be on the collective here, but key players to keep an eye on include Liverpool's Dominik Szoboszla, Freiburg forward Roland Sallai, and RB Leipzig keeper Péter Gulácsi.
Switzerland also qualified automatically for Euro 2024, although they had to settle for second spot behind surprise Group I winners Romania. Murat Yakin's troops only lost once in 10 games, but five draws ultimately cost them top spot.
The Swiss will be competing in their sixth consecutive major tournament and third straight Euros. They caused a stir at Euro 2020 after they stunned tournament favourites France on penalties in the last-16, having fought their way back from 3-1 down, before pushing Spain in a quarter-final defeat on penalties.
Skipper Granit Xhaka will be full of confidence after a stunning club season at Bayer Leverkusen, Man City's Manuel Akanji will be key in defence, while Xherdan Shaqiri will look to sparkle once more.
Hungary have won 30 of the 46 meetings between the sides, however, it's Switzerland who have won the last three on the spin, including a double in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.
The Best Betting Markets for Hungary vs Switzerland
Considering that both countries have been accustomed to not losing matches in recent times, a draw stands out at 9/4.
This outcome has occurred in seven of Switzerland's last 11matches and in three of their five games during Euro 2020 (at 90 minutes).
Hungary have suffered only one defeat in 16 matches since September 2022, with five of those games ending all even.
Given the defensive strength of both teams, I also find the odds of 4/5 for under 2.5 goals appealing. Hungary have kept clean sheets in half of its last 12 games and Switzerland's last five matches have all had fewer than three goals.
