Just a single point separates this pair in the Bundesliga standings, with hosts Dortmund racking up twice as many draws as Saturday's counterparts, but winning a game less. Edin Terzic's side have won just one of three league matches since that 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Bayern Munich, losing to Stuttgart and drawing with leaders Leverkusen, either side of a 4-2 win over Monchengladbach.
Leipzig have been victorious eight times from 14 league outings, boasting a goal difference of 12 more than this weekend's opponents. Marco Rose's team have struggled to maintain a consistent pace in recent Bundesliga fixtures like BVB, but haven't had it quite as rough, winning four of their last six in this competition.
Borussia Dortmund vs RB Leipzig Tips
While not being confident about a particular result or even how many goals we could see in the game for that matter, Leipzig will undoubtedly bring the smoke to Dortmund's home turf in the late kick-off. Marco Rose, the former head coach of BVB for one season, has his Leipzig in the groove and on their day they can go toe-to-toe with most, as evidenced in both matches with Premier League champions Manchester City this season. RB rank fourth for shots in the German top tier, with 198 across 13 matches. They've also seen 86 shots on target in these fixtures - a tally only surmounted by 1st placed Leverkusen and defending title winners Munich.
Despite Dortmund's position in the table, they've kept just three clean sheets in the league and have faced far too many efforts on goal. The Black and Yellows have seen 181 shots from opposition teams, with goalkeeper Gregor Kobel directly facing 65. In the division, they've had to deal with four or more shots on target in nine of their 13 fixtures, including in four of the last five; Milan and Newcastle having four and five on this ground respectively in the Champions League. Leipzig have registered 4+ in six of their last seven Bundesliga matches and have hit this mark 11 times from 14 attempts.
The stats are strong for our main bet, so we've doubled down on the selection and added a slightly higher line for Gregor Kobel to stop six or more RB Leipzig shots on target. The 26-year-old stopper has faced 6+ SOT six times in the Bundesliga, with this tally occurring in all but one of their last five Bundesliga outings, with Leverkusen, Stuttgart, Bayern and Frankfurt all managing the feat. Outside of the league, Stuttgart also knocked Dortmund out of the DFB Pokal on Wednesday, striking seven efforts on goal in their 2-0 win.
In last season's meetings, Leipzig were the more triumphant of the two, winning two times from a possible three. In these encounters Rose's men hit the target five times last September, six in March's 2-1 defeat and 11 a month later during their DFB Pokal quarter-final triumph. With RBL forward Ikoma-Lois Openda in such fine goalscoring form - notching 14 times in 21 appearances and scoring six in as many games - Dortmund's defence will have to be on notice. The 23-year-old Belgian ranks 3rd in the division for both shots (49) and shots on target (24) and is sure to lead the onslaught for his side's trip this weekend.
