Bolton are managed by Ian Evatt who replaced Keith Hill in July 2020 following the club's relegation down to League Two.

Evatt led the club back into League One, then finished 9th in 2021/22.

Bolton enjoyed some of their best years under Sam Allardyce who managed the club between 1999 and 2007. During that time "Big Sam" led his troops into the Premier League side, before turning them into an established top-flight side, and even venturing into Europe - for the first time in the club's history - after an impressive 6th place league finish in 2004/05.
