Southampton are on the hunt for another new manager as Ivan Juric has left on April 7 2025, following their relegation to the Championship. He had only replaced Russell Martin in December 2024. Simon Rusk has moved up from the U21 to manage the side for the remainder of the season with Adam Lallana as his assistant.
Martin, who took charge in June 2023 and won promotion to the Premier League, left the struggling Saints at the bottom of the table with just five points from 16 games played; so far this season, the Saints have managed a solitary win against Everton.
Over the years Southampton have produced a number of talented young players, including Theo Walcott, Gareth Bale, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Unfortunately, the Hampshire outfit have not been able to hold onto these stars as the lure of the Premier League's top clubs has been too strong. Although this is something the club have been determined to stop.
Former manager Nigel Adkins propelled the club to back-to-back promotions from League One up to the Premier League, and Ronald Koeman led them to their highest-ever Premier League finish (6th).
Southampton have not recorded a win in the last 10 games, forcing 2 draws against Crystal Palace, West Ham United. Defeats to Burnley, AFC Bournemouth, Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa has seen them concede 25 goals at an average of 2.5 per game while scoring just 6 to give them a -19 goal difference over this period.
