Strictly Come Dancing Week 7 Elimination Recap
Adam Thomas had shown signs of significant improvement, but the dreaded rumba came at the wrong time for him in the series.
It’s a notoriously difficult dance for male celebs to perform, and his score of 27 with partner Luba Mushtuk was only good enough for the dance-off, where he was beaten by Angela Rippon.
Sunday night was Rippon’s first appearance in the dance-off – one the judges said was the toughest to call so far.
We’re at the business end of the competition, so they can expect more difficult decisions from here on in.
Strictly Come Dancing Winner Odds
Ellie Leach continues to dazzle at the top of the leaderboard, recording the series’ joint highest score of 39 points for her American smooth.
The characterisation, musicality and style of the American smooth makes it one of my favourite dances to watch, and Ellie captured the spirit of Ginger Rogers perfectly on Saturday night.
She remains the bookies’ favourite and can be backed at a best price of 3/1 from bet365.
Layton and Nikita were the only other couple to pick up tens in their score of 36. Their jive was hotly anticipated, but Craig and Anton were reserved in their marking, both giving the pair an eight. Best price odds on Layton to win have shifted back up to 12/1 at Unibet.
Nigel Harman and Bobby Brazier continue to impress the bookmakers – both can be backed to win at a best price of 5/1 despite not really excelling in the competition.
Following a string of mediocre performances – including finishing bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday – Angela Scanlon has fallen away from the bookies’ favourites.
Odds on her to win have jumped from 5/1 in week five to 20/1 now.

Next Elimination Odds
In last week’s preview I backed Annabel Croft for elimination, but on Saturday she turned in her best performance of the series with 35 points for her couple’s choice routine with Johannes Radebe. The dance, in tribute to Annabel’s late husband, moved the Strictly ballroom to tears and she was deservedly voted through.
Despite this performance, odds on Annabel to win have leaped from 50/1 to 100/1.
The other major mover in our odds tracker is Angela Rippon, who jumps from a best price of 33/1 to win last week to 100/1 now. Her waltz on Saturday was the first time Angela has looked genuinely uncomfortable, which could be a sign that her energy for the competition is waning.
She’ll be desperate to dance at Blackpool, but I think she might fall at the final hurdle. A best price on her to be the next eliminated comes from Betfred at 9/2.
