Strictly Come Dancing Week 9 Elimination Recap
Angela Rippon and her partner Kai Widdrington bid an emotional farewell to the competition during Sunday’s results show.
The couple had finished bottom of the leaderboard and were beaten in the dance-off by Bobby Brazier.
It was a surprise dance-off appearance for Bobby, who was there for the first time. For the first time in the series he managed to score more than 32 points, but his jive wasn’t considered strong enough to avoid the bottom two.
Having been a frontrunner for so long, Bobby now slips down the bookies’ pecking order to a best price of 16/1 to win from Boylesports, William Hill and Unibet.
Strictly Come Dancing Winner Odds
Ellie Leach, Layton Williams and Angela Scanlon only dropped four points between them on Saturday night; with only six couples remaining the standard is now very high, so expect more tens from here on in.
Ellie and Layton finished joint-first on the leaderboard with 39 points. Coronation Street’s Ellie looks like she’ll be the favourite from now until the show’s climax – best price odds on her to win haven’t moved this week and come from bet365 at 2/5.
For the second week running, the Strictly crowd were baying for Craig’s first ten to be given to Layton for an iconic couple’s choice routine to Aint No Other Man. And yet again he wasn’t to be baited; Craig’s steadfast commitment to his role is truly one of the reasons Strictly is so entertaining.
Best price odds on Layton to win have come down from 14/1 to 8/1 – these odds can be found at Boylesports, William Hill and Betfred.
Angela Scanlon reminded us why she was considered one of the bookies’ favourites for so long with a knockout Argentine tango. She scored three tens – her first of the series – to register a series-best 38 points, but of course that only included an eight from Craig.
Despite this performance, best price odds on Angela to win have jumped from 33/1 to 50/1 at bet365. This price is double the odds on offer at our other bookmakers.
Annabel Croft was tied with Bobby on the leaderboard, equalling her top score of the series with 35 points for her American smooth. For the third week in a row Annabel stays at 100/1 to win at bet365, although her odds plummet as far down as 12/1 at William Hill.
That just leaves Nigel Harman. He’s been the bookies’ favourite for much of the competition, but odds on him to win have slipped to their lowest point at 10/1 from William Hill. Nigel cut a furious figure as he received the judges’ comments for his quickstep; he scored 31 points, good enough only for second-bottom.

I don’t think the Strictly faithful will have liked this display of petulance, so I’m backing him for elimination this week.
He’s dancing the rumba on Saturday night, which has ended the run of many male celebrities in the past.
A best price on Nigel to leave comes from bet365 at 15/2.
