Shriners Hospitals For Children Open Tips & Predictions: Go low in Las Vegas

Fresh from a big price 80/1 place at last week's Sanderson Farms Championship, Russell Palmer has another three golf tips on the PGA Tour this week...
- Webb Simpson - 2pts win @ 11/1 with William Hill
- Harris English - 1pt each-way @ 28/1 with William Hill (8 places)
- Kristoffer Ventura - 0.5pts each-way @ 100/1 with 888Sport (6 places)
Following a couple of quiet weeks on the PGA Tour in terms of field quality, some of the game's biggest names return this week, including the newly crowned US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau, who is our 7/1 favourite.
The TPC Summerlin is the anthesis of Winged Foot but that doesn't stop Bryson having a massive chance. He's got the length to conquer any course and his putting is good enough to compete in what will probably amount to a putting contest this week. a winner here two years ago, the American has three straight top tens here in Vegas but at 7/1 he's a no bet for me.
- Former winner has three top tens in his last four starts
- Ranked #1 for birdie average on the PGA Tour last season
A player who I do like the look of though a shade bigger at 11/1 is Webb Simpson.
The American is uber consistent and one of the best putters in the game. He has nine top tens including two wins in the last calendar year from 15 events, plus a seventh place finish here at TPC Summerlin a year ago.
I'm looking at birdie average as a metric this week given this is likely to be a shootout and Webb ranked number one on the PGA Tour last season. Fourth best in the field at the US Open for shots gained putting, I can see him going close here where he has four top tens in his last eight visits, including winning in 2013.
- Top 20 for shots gained putting
- two top tens in his last four starts
Second up is another good putter and consistent player in the shape of Harris English at 28/1 with William Hill who are paying eight places this week.
English was last seen finishing fourth in the US Open, his 6th top ten finish in his last 20 events. He's missed just two cuts during that period with 14 top 25s.
He ranks in the top 25 for shots gained approaching the green (25th), shots gained tee to green (18th), shots gained putting (18th) and 7th for shots gained in total.
A fourth place finish here at TPC Summerlin in 2016 is enough to show me he goes at the track and he could also be buoyed by his college buddy Hudson Swafford winning his first PGA Tour event two weeks ago.
- Two top 10s in his last three starts
- Ranks top 12 for birdie average and 4th for shots gained putting
Last up this week, Kristoffer Ventura did us a favour on Sunday doing just enough to get some place returns at a big price in the Sanderson Farms and I'm happy to go again aboard the young Norwegian at a three figure price.
As I've stated, TPC Summerlin's going to be a putters' paradise this week and Ventura's stats hold him in good stead, where he ranked 11th for birdie average last season and is in similar form in his two events this term, also ranking 4th for shots gained putting last year.
Two top 10s in his last three starts and each-time we collected place terms at big odds. He has had a look at the course the last two seasons with a credible tie for 18th twelve months ago.
This week's field is more competitive, but Ventura played in the same college team as Matt Wolff and Viktor Hovland and I want to be onboard the next cab on the rank.
Best of the rest
I wouldn't put you off any of the following players who performed well last week and are all good putters at big prices.
- Maverick McNealy - 175/1
- Denny McCarthy - 80/1
- Brandt Snedeker - 140/1
- Peter Malnati - 200/1
All big prices as you can see if you want to throw a few darts and all cheap options for DFS this week in what is a pretty stacked field.
As ever, good luck with your bets if you're following and please gamble responsibly.
