Portugal vs Scoland Prediction, Odds and Betting Tips: 7/1 Bet Builder for Sunday's game
Scotland will look to bounce back from their brutal last-gasp defeat to Poland when they travel to former champions Portugal in the Nations League on Sunday night, live on ITV 4 and ITVX at 7.45pm.
Portugal vs Scotland Predictions
Portugal vs Scotland Preview
Portugal claimed a 2-1 victory over Croatia in their opening match of the new Nations League campaign in a game in which Cristiano Ronaldo scored a milestone 900th top-level goal of his career - his 131st for Portugal.
Portugal will now bid to make it two wins out of two in League A Group 1 when they host Scotland in Lisbon. The hosts are the huge favourites for the three points; priced up at just 2/13 with BetMGM.
As for Scotland, they suffered a heartbreaking 97th minute 3-2 defeat at home to Poland. Two goals down at the break, Steve Clarke's men showcased superb character and grit to claw their way back to 2-2, before a costly injury-time error wiped the points from their grasp in frustrating fashion.
The Scots, who have now only won one of their last 13 matches, are way out at 16/1 to stun Portugal at the Estádio da Luz, while a draw is available at 21/4.
The odds may be stacked against Scotland to upset Portugal on their own patch, however, I think their main man Scott McTominay is well worth backing at 8/5 to have at least one shot on target.
Regular readers will know how successful we've been with backing McTominay to sparkle for Scotland, as he so often does. We tipped him up at 7/2 to score against Poland and we came agonisingly close to nailing the 28/1 shot on a brace, only for VAR to rupture our chances.
The new Napoli player has now scored nine goals in his last 12 competitive matches for his country, a remarkable return.
This time around, we are just after a shot on target from the midfield maestro, a bet which has landed in two of his last three games for the Tartan Army.

You really do fear for Scotland considering the way games have gone for them of late. With only one victory in their last 13 matches, the situation is dire and likely to worsen against the former Nations League champions, Portugal. The Portuguese squad is rich in talent and creativity, featuring players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Rafael Leao, Pedro Neto, Bernardo Silva, João Félix, Diogo Jota, and Bruno Fernandes.
Speaking of Fernandes, although he has not yet found his form for Manchester United this season, he did contribute to Portugal's 2-1 victory over Croatia by providing an assist for Diogo Dalot's opening goal in the seventh minute. Over the course of 72 appearances for Portugal, Fernandes has been involved in 44 goals, 21 of those being assists, and I think he represents a decent price at 18/5 to add another assist to his collection against a fragile-looking Scotland.
Ronaldo was rightly ecstatic after he hit another memorable landmark against Croatia in the form of the 900th career goal of his remarkable career. It's not a goal I'm after this weekend though, but over 1.5 shots on target. As we know, Ronaldo loves a shot, from any distance, having accumulated 51 shots in his last 13 matches for Portugal, 29 of which have been on target.
If we combine these two bets we get an appealing 7/1 bet builder with BetMGM, who are offering new customers £40 in free bets when they sign up today.
