NFL Betting Tips: 9/1 four-fold for Week 16 NFL action

As part of our expanding sports coverage here at BettingOdds.com we've enlisted our US sports specialist @OddsTerrier to do a weekly NFL preview and accumulator. This will lead right up to the playoffs and eventually the 'Greatest show on Earth' Superbowl LVI, which will take place on February 13 in Inglewood, California at the SoFi Stadium, home of the LA Rams and Chargers. We'll have comprehensive NFL tips and prop bets throughout the playoff period.
Those damn Lions! That's three weeks out of three they've messed up our bet. This time they smashed the under-par Cardinals and earnt their 2nd win of the year. All the other three touchdown tips we picked landed so the week wasn't a complete wash out.
Elsewhere in week 15, the Packers were the first team to clinch their play off spot after wrapping up the NFL North for the 3rd season on the trot. They are also the number one in the NFC after losses for the Cardinals and Buccaneers. In the AFC the Chiefs moved into sole top spot as the Patriots winning streak was brought to an abrupt ending by the impressive Colts.
We've gone back to a traditional acca this week in the search for a winner and the four-fold pays a little over 9/1 at Boylesports.
As always please stick to your limits and bet responsibly.
Detroit Lions @ Atlanta Falcons - Lions +6.5
'Don't back the Lions, Don't back the Lions, Don't back the Lions...' Mmm that Lions spread looks tasty! Yes I'm doing it. I'm determined to break this Motown curse.
The Lions were superb last week against the Cardinals and have now won two out of their last three after going winless for a year. A loss here would be good for Detroit's draft prospects but coach Dan Campbell simply cannot afford to let this momentum slip now. The Falcons have to win here to keep their playoff hopes alive but their defense simply doesn't look upto par.
Detroit is one of the best teams in the NFL for betting against the spread despite their poor overall record. They are 9-5 for the season ATS and the +6.5 here looks on the large side.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Jets - Jets ML
This match has potentially huge consequences for the 2022 draft. The Jags currently hold the number one overall pick but a victory here could see the Jets overtake them. Jacksonville's number one pick from the 2021 draft, Trevor Lawrence hasn't set the league alight like predicted this year and last years number two pick Zach Wilson has looked far more impressive in recent weeks.
The Jets are not a good side currently but look competent when compared to the awful Jags. Head Coach Robert Saleh has made some good calls recently and I would expect him to steer his Jets over the line here.
Los Angeles Rams @ Minnesota Vikings - Rams ML
The Rams are on a bit of a charge. After a dip of three straight losses they've responded by winning three straight including impressive wins over the Cardinals and Seahawks. Coach Sean McVay knows that a strong end to the season could see the Rams taking the number one spot in the NFC and they'll need to dispatch the Vikings here. The Vikes are hanging onto a NFC playoff spot by the skin of their fingertips and should they lose to the Rams and then the Packers next week it looks increasingly unlikely they will make it.
I'm sure the Vikings will be up for this one but their defence is conceding an average of 30.5 points for the last four games and QB Matthew Stafford is thriving in his new side with the receiving talents of Cooper Kupp to call upon. The WR is having a career season and leads the league in Receptions, Yard and TD's. Add in the additional threat of OBJ and they should surely have too much for Minnesota.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Kansas City Chiefs - Chiefs -7.5
Last up we've got our favourite pick at BettingOdds - The Chiefs spread. After an awful start to the season the Chiefs appear to have their mojo back, winning seven straight. Andy Reid's men are extremely frugal at Arrowhead and Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has got his defensive line absolutely firing - they've allowed less than double figures in their last four games at home.
One issue they do have is in the offensive ranks; both Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce have been subject to the NFL's Covid protocols as has kicker Harrison Butker. However, despite this I still see the Chiefs having enough offensive talent in reserve to cover the spread. The Chiefs defence will put Ben Roethlisberger under constant pressure and this should lead to a comfortable win for Kansas City.
The Steelers need a win here to remain in the hunt for the playoff spots but I see them getting no joy at Arrowhead.
