Next James Bond Odds: Latest on Henry Cavill, Rege-Jean Page and Tom Holland

We all know by now that Daniel Craig has stepped down from the dream job that is James Bond. It was a damn fine innings as 007, one which spanned 15 years from Casino Royale (2006) to No Time To Die (2021), which was Craig’s fifth and final film.
Yet, agonisingly and infuriatingly, we still don’t know who will don the Brioni Suit, sip the Vesper Martini, and get behind the wheel of the Aston Martin V8 Saloon as the eighth James Bond.
Below, we take a closer look at the contenders to become Britain's top spy, featuring the likes of Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, and Rege-Jean Page, while Tom Holland has stormed into contention with various bookmakers...
Next James Bond Odds
A number of firms now have Henry Cavill as the leading name in the frame to slip into Craig’s shiny shoes. That's right, Superman has zoomed into contention to become James Bond. Cavill really is living the dream isn’t he. I couldn’t be more jealous.
To be fair, Cavill fits the archetypal Bond bill perfectly. Not only is the Brit devastatingly good looking, but he’s got the charm, the accent, and has thrived in a range of action-packed roles; from the aforementioned Superman, to his portrayal of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, and playing August Walker/John Lark in Mission Impossible.
It’s worth noting that Craig was 38 when Casino Royale was released, with Cavill currently 39. He previously missed out after auditioning for Casino Royale, but now nearly 20 years later he represents an extremely strong contender.
Tom Hardy would no doubt bring a different, intriguing, and perhaps more gritty element to proceedings, while he has the profile, popularity, and pedigree to excel. When we last had a proper dig into this market back in September it was Hardy who topped the betting, however he’s since drifted to around the 6/1 mark with most firms, although Paddy Power really don't fancy his chances after extending his price out to 20/1 - a dramatic shift.
Idris Elba seems to have been touted as the next 007 for at least a decade and remains a prominent presence in the market at a best-priced 7/1 (Paddy Power); he’s still 10/3 elsewhere. There’s no getting away from the fact that The Wire and Luther star would be a superb Bond. He’s just so cool. However, there have been rumours that producers are seeking a younger Bond - according to Hollywood insider Ross King - which could affect the chances of Elba, who turns 50 in a couple of weeks.
Personally, I like the sound of Rege-Jean Page who is cool, charismatic, charming and obviously a very good actor. The 34-year-old Bridgerton star is actually still the favourite - ahead of Cavill - with the likes of Paddy Power and Betfair but elsewhere his odds have lengthened a little in recent weeks to 5/1.
Five-time Golden Globe nominated Chiwetel Ejiofor, McMafia’s James Norton, and Irish heartthrob Aidan Turner are all hovering around the 12/1 mark to become Britain’s top spy, but one name to really keep an eye on is Tom Holland, aka Peter Parker. Holland's odds have been clashed to just 3/1 with Paddy Power, however he remains a juicy 50/1 shot with Sky Bet, a price that's unlikely to remain on the books for much longer.
Aged just 26, Holland still has his whole future ahead of him and could be viewed as a potential long-term successor. While he’d be considerably younger than Craig - and would be the youngest Bond ever - it would represent a fresh start for the franchise and could attract a new, younger audience.
We can’t mention the next James Bond without sprouting out a few dodgy names in the betting. Piers Morgan is a four-figure price at 1000/1, as is David Beckham, with Kanye West a 500/1 shot, whereas TV presenter Rylan Clark is currently the biggest price at 1,500/1.
