Euro 2024 Outright Winner Odds & Predictions
At each major international tournament, punters flock to the outright winner market, which allows them to back their projected winner of the competition.
Our predicted winner for Euro 2024 is France. The reasons behind this selection include Didier Deschamps having over 10 years experience across seven tournaments prior to this one, Les Bleus possessing some top individual talent, such as Kylian Mbappe, who also gel well as part of a team unit, and their ability to navigate through difficult moments despite not always performing at their best.
Coming out victorious when not necessarily firing on all cylinders can often be the difference maker when it comes to winning the Euros or a World Cup, and Les Bleus have been better at grinding out results than just about any nation in recent times.
Teams That Could Be A Potential Surprise
Every European Championship finals always throws us a couple of curveballs in the way of teams who exceed people's expectations, as evidenced by Greece's win over Portugal in the Euro 2004 final or shock results in the knockout stages, like Iceland's 2-1 win over England in 2016.
Here is our list of teams that we predict will cause some upsets and overperform at Euro 2024:
Croatia
This one could be considered a potential surprise when eyeing up Croatia's 40/1 price to win Euro 2024, however, recent history has told us to expect the Croats to perform on the big stage.
Although they've been eliminated in the last-16 of the previous two European Championships, Croatia balanced that underperformance out by finishing as runners-up at the 2018 World Cup, followed up by a third-placed finish in Qatar in 2022.
2024 in Germany could be the last roll of the dice for this golden generation of talent, so qualifying from the perceived 'Group of Death' and taking a good swing at some big hitters in the knockouts shouldn't be ruled out by any means.
Hungary
Similarly, Hungary have their work cut out for them to progress from Group A, dealing with hosts Germany and seemingly battling it out for the second automatic knockout spot against Switzerland.
As we've seen, Marco Rossi's men can rise to the big occasion and claim some huge scalps when asked - having recently done so twice against England in the Nations League, as well as picking up four points from two encounters with the Euro 2024 host nation in the same competition.
Romania
Group I qualifying winners Romania had a noticeably strong campaign to book their place in Germany, winning six of their matches and remaining undefeated to beat out Switzerland to top spot.
As a relatively unknown entity, Romania could benefit from low expectations and could find themselves enjoying a decent Euro 2024 run if they manage to qualify for the knockouts and should the draw be kind to them.
Austria
Group D looks a tricky puzzle for them to crack, but given how France don't usually kick into gear until the knockout rounds and Netherlands' far from impenetrable defence, Ralf Rangnick's side could surprise a few.
The extra four places awarded to the best third-placed teams leaves the door open for Austria to qualify for the last 16, where their energy and recent record both leave them in good stead to slip under the radar.
Former European Championship Winners
In its 64-year history, there have been 16 European Championship finals tournaments held once every two years, with nine different countries lifting the trophy over this time.
