Aintree Day 1 Tips
2.55 William Hill Bowl Chase - Shishkin
Shiskin was the winner of this race last year and I’m kicking off my picks for Aintree by backing him to repeat his success. After the race 12 months ago, he did refuse on his next outing and a stumble likely cost a win at Kempton, before winning last time out at Newbury. Shiskin missed the Cheltenham Festival with a bad scope, but if fit on Thursday, he will be hard to beat.
3.30 Aintree Hurdle - Bob Olinger
Bob Olinger has two wins to his name so far this season and also finished second to Champion Hurdle winner State Man last time out at Leopardstown. Impair Et Passe was third in the same race and will need to be at its best to reverse the placings here. At the prices I like the look of Bob to get the job done.
4.05 - Foxhunters Chase -Bennys King
This veteran horse will have no issue with the ground, which looks to be at best soft. He comes here having won easily on heavy ground at Leicester just a couple of months ago in February. This should be a solid test, however one for which this horse has all the credentials. He may go off considerably shorter than the 7/1 that is currently available.
4.40 - Close Brothers Handicap Chase - Whiskeywealth
Whiskeywealth has recorded back-to-back wins on heavy ground in the lead up to this race and his trainer looks to have him in good stead ahead of this competitive race. With testing conditions expected at Aintree on Thursday, a proven goer is a big plus.
