Aintree Grand National Tips 2024: Corach Rambler can make it back to back wins

The wait is finally over and Grand National day is finally upon us. The 2024 Aintree Festival has been fascinating with some excellent Grade 1 racing and some of the most competitive of renewals we have seen in recent decades.
There is no denying the Grand National takes centre stage on Saturday as punters across the land look to land the winner of the race, which just seems to taste a bit sweeter than any other.
There are three Grade 1 races on the card including the Liverpool Hurdle and the Mersey Novices’ Hurdle and we’ve once again got our man TwoPoundPunt on hand to provide us with his favourite fancies. Read about his quartet of selections below, which when combined into a yankee pays 1557/1.

Grand National Day Tips
13:20 - William Hill Handicap Hurdle - West Balboa
The first race on the card on Saturday is the 3 mile handicap hurdle and I’m kicking off my selections by backing West Balboa. Dan Skelton’s eight-year-old is two from two at Aintree, including when he landed this race last year. A horse who handles the soft ground and should be in top condition after a decent run last month.
14:30 - William Hill Handicap Chase - Forward Plan
Next up we have a handicap Chase where the one I like the look of is Forward Plan. Trained by Anthony Honeyball, Forward Plan has twice been a winner over 3m this season and looks to be one very much on the up. He is low in the weights and should give a strong race should everything go to plan around this historic venue.
15:05 - Liverpool Hurdle - Sire Du Berlais
I love a good story and there could be a few of them on Saturday, so of course I'm backing the hattrick seeking veteran Sire Du Berlais. He has been successful in this race for the last two years and is very much respected despite being a 12yo now. Ridden by one of the best in the business Mark Walsh, he acts on the ground and ran well at Cheltenham.
16:00 - Grand National - Corach Rambler
Despite being priced as short as 4/1 just a few days, Corach Rambler is now a general 7/1 shot in the Grand National market. I’m not phased by the drift and I’m backing a horse who is looking to repeat what was a very impressive victory last year. I can only imagine this has been the plan all season and a solid third in the gold cup last month sets him up well here. After Lucinda Russell’s heartbreak on Friday, it would be very fitting to see her enjoy back-to-back wins in the national with superstar Corach Rambler.
