Germany vs Scotland Head-to-Head Statistics
Scotland have never won a competitive fixture against Germany, picking up just one friendly victory in 1999 in the last 13 meetings between the two nations.
The two sides have met twice in major international tournaments, with what was then West Germany running out 2-1 winners in the 1986 World Cup group stage game despite Gordon Strachan opening the scoring for the Tartan Army and six years later die Mannschaft ran out 0-2 winners in Norrkoping during the 1992 European Championship group stages.
The most recent meetings between these two proud footballing nations came in the qualifying campaign for the 2016 World Cup, with Germany winning 2-1 in Munich and 3-2 in Glasgow with Thomas Muller scoring braces in both fixtures.
Germany vs Scotland Match Preview
Football fans across Europe and indeed the entire world will be marking the days off their calendar until June 14th, when the European Championships finally get underway in Germany.
And to kick things off, the hosts are set to face a plucky Scotland side in Munich, with the bookmakers expecting Julian Nagelsmann's side to cruise to a winning start. But it may not be that simple - this will be the former Bayern Munich boss' first competitive match in charge of the team and what's more, he is the nation's youngest ever national team coach.
For such a proud footballing nation, the last three international tournaments have been nothing short of disastrous for die Mannschaft as they've crashed out of the last two World Cups in the Group Stage, with a Round of 16 defeat to England at Euro 2020 sandwiched between those two campaigns.
With the home advantage, they'll be expecting to perform much better this summer, starting with a win against the Tartan Army at Bayern's Fußball Arena München on June 14th in the tournament's curtain-raiser.
But Scotland won't go down without a fight here. Although this is only the second tournament that they've qualified for since 1998, the last being Euro 2020 where they bowed out in the group stages, Steve Clarke's men produced some excellent performances in qualifying to show that they can compete with some of the biggest and best teams in Europe. Indeed, they even managed to beat Spain 2-0 at Hampden Park thanks to a Scott McTominay brace.
Although there's a gulf in class between these two squads, Scotland will feel they're capable of spoiling the party in Munich even if they seem to lack a little firepower and form has tailed off in their recent international fixtures.
The Best Betting Markets for Germany vs Scotland
With the odds so short on a Germany victory here at around 1/4, many punters will be looking to combine a Mannschaft victory with another bet, with a win to nil at 21/20 standing out given Scotland's striking issues, or a -2 handicap bet at 12/5 if you're expected Nagelsmann's talented attacking line-up to get among the goals.
There are some interesting prices in the first goalscorer market as well. Florian Wirtz (6/1) and Kai Havertz (9/2) are coming off the back of very productive seasons in front of goal, while Borussia Dortmund's Niclas Fullkrug (31/20, anytime goalscorer) has racked up 15 goals this term in all competitions for die Schwarzgelben.
There will be some interest in the prop bets too and one market that may be worth considering is for the aforementioned Wirtz to get an assist in this game. The Bayer Leverkusen man is fresh from winning the Bundesliga's Player of the Season after assisting no fewer than 11 goals for the Meisterschale winners this term.
