Hosts Wolves have five wins, three draws, and two losses this season in 10 Premier League contests at Molineux in 2023/24. Gary O'Neil’s side are looking to extend an eight-match home unbeaten streak (Wins 5 Draws 3 Losses 0) dating back to September 2023 against Manchester City. Bookmakers are struggling to predict the result of this game with the home side priced at 13/8 to collect the three points on Thursday.
It has been a disappointing campaign for Erik ten Hag’s side who sit in eighth place on 32 points. With just under half of the season remaining United trail fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur by eight points for a spot in the Europa League. The Red Devils are the marginal favourites to get the win in the Black Country, priced at 31/20 with several betting sites.
Wolves vs Manchester United Tips
Wolves possess an excellent home record in the league this season. They are unbeaten since September on a run which has seen them collect three points against Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea, Everton and Burnley, while they have taken a point against Forest, Newcastle and Aston Villa.
Gary O’Neil’s side have scored in every home league match this season and the selection I’ve taken a lean towards is for Pedro Neto to provide an assist at 7/2. Only Ollie Watkins, Kieran Trippier and Mo Salah have recorded more assists than Neto this season, however all those three players have featured in 20+ league games this season, whereas Neto has made just 12 appearances.
With an assist provided in six of his 11 league starts this season, the 7/2 that is available with Sky Bet for another against Manchester United looks a price that is worth getting behind.
Team News
The hosts will be without Joao Gomes for this clash with the Brazilian suspended. Pablo Sarabia and Hwang-Hee-Chan are doubtful, while Boubacar Traore is away on international duty.
Manchester United will be the services of Sofyan Amrabat who has been away at AFCON. Anthony Martial, Victor Lindelof and Mason Mount are injured, while the availability of Marcus Rashford remains uncertain.
At 33/1 we’ve also had a little bit of loose change on Matheus Cunha to score along with Mario Lemina and Bruno Fernandes to be carded. Cunha has been directly involved in seven goals across his last six home appearances for Wolves in all competitions, scoring and assisting in each of his last two at Molineux (vs Everton in the Premier League and Brentford in the FA Cup).
Mario Lemina is by far Wolves’ most booked players this season having been shown a card in eight of his 18 league games (7 yellow 1 red). Bruno Fernandes also leads the way for card-collecting at Manchester United this season having seven yellows to his name and he remains one of the most petulant players in the division in our opinion.
