Back-to-back victories over strong opposition in Ipswich Town and Cardiff City show just how feared West Brom should be at the minute. The Baggies are only three points off 3rd, however, Leeds United and Southampton, the two teams currently occupying 3rd and 4th, hold unbeaten records across their last five league outings. Automatic promotion seems a million miles away given Leicester and The Tractor Boys' 11 and 10-point respective advantages over WBA, but more results like last Saturday's put them in good stead to mount a serious challenge.
A Jeff Hendrick injury-time equaliser forced The Foxes to settle for just a point away at Hillsborough midweek. That result means that the leaders have now dropped points in three of their last four games after winning nine on the bounce. Other clubs will be hoping that the cracks are starting to show in a team many believed would walk away with the league given their rip-roaring start. That being said, their sizeable safety cushion over those involved in the current play-off picture, coupled with 2nd placed Ipswich's recent wobble, will have alleviated some of that lingering pressure to ensure that they remain on course for an immediate return to the top flight.
West Brom vs Leicester City Tips
Saturday's meeting is set to be a real spectacle for football fans, with two of the division's very best going toe-to-toe. West Brom are in mighty good form at the moment, picking up 15 points from a possible 18 across their last six matches, which includes wins over 2nd placed Ipswich Town and Hull City in 6th - both on home soil.
That feeds into how WBA have made The Hawthorns a real tough place for Championship sides to visit under Carlos Corberan. The Baggies have won 16 of their 24 matches on this patch since he was installed in the dugout in October 2022, boasting six W's from nine outings here during the current league campaign. Albion have lost only a single game at home this season, falling to defeat just twice in the last 16 home encounters and winning four of their most recent six outings on this ground since losing to Huddersfield in September.
Not only have recent results been disappointing for Leicester but their performances have also accurately reflected the occasions where they've dropped points. The Foxes haven't been immaculate all season even when casting teams aside, so it becomes a real challenge to start winning again if you aren't at your best. The recent away defeat at Middlesbrough and missing out on three points in three of their last four fixtures is displaying some weakness in the league leaders. The host's defensive resoluteness could also be another key factor, having kept four clean sheets from six recent outings.
In a game packed full of talent, we're zoning in on Grady Diangana and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for either team. WBA's tricky Congolese attacking midfielder provided his side's second goal in the win over Ipswich Town last weekend, starting his eight consecutive match for The Baggies midweek as they made the trip to Wales to face Cardiff City. During this run, Diangana has hit the target on four different occasions, letting off eight shots across six matches. With the visit of the league leaders, West Brom will need their talented 25-year-old creator and as proven on multiple occasions in the shirt, he is a man capable of delivering.
For the visitors, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been a revelation since dropping down to the English second tier. The central midfielder has taken more shots (47) and found the target more times (17) than any of his teammates or West Brom counterparts this season. The local lad has beaten the goalkeeper five times in 18 appearances, producing a shot on target in three of his last four and meeting this line in 12 separate instances for Leicester in the Championship. City will need their marksman if they are to put a dampener on The Baggies' stellar home record and being deployed from a slightly wider position has suited his game this term.
