Venezuela vs Mexico Predictions
Mexicans face a standoff with victorious Venezuela
Mexico remain favourites to win Group B and their record suggests they should overcome Venezuela on Wednesday but they may not have things all their own way.
El Tri dominated their opening contest with plucky Jamaica securing 62% of possession and managing 9 shots on target in the 1-0 victory.
However, their failure to bag the opening goal until the 69th minute showed a lack of a clinical edge in attack and they will need to rectify that to see off a Venezuela side who stunned Ecuador in their first fixture.
Ecuador have been pushed out to 33/1 to win the Copa America following the loss but Venezuela are short odds to make the knockout stages following their 2-1 victory.
And they will be confident of taking something off the Mexicans following a strong start to their World Cup qualifying campaign which has seen them lose just one of their first six qualifiers.
Whether they can secure their first victory over Mexico in 11 attempts remains to be seen but the draw looks a value bet in what could be a lively clash.
Goals may flow in LA
Mexico managed 9 shots on target against Jamaica but failed to convert 8 of those. They should be better for the run and the goals could rack up in Los Angeles as they have done often in matches between these two.
Nine of the 11 meetings have seen both teams score and eight have featured at least three goals.
Mexico will be hampered by the loss of injured skipper Edson Alvarez but there is plenty of firepower on each side, so both teams to score looks a solid bet.
Positive approach could see shots mount
A win for either side would guarantee qualification with a game to spare and that could lead to a lively approach from both teams.
There were 13 shots on target in Mexico's win over Jamaica, while Venezuela's victory over Ecuador featured 9 shots on target, so backing at least 10 shots on goal on Wednesday looks another solid wager.
This fixture is often a high-scoring entertaining affair, and with the added incentive of a knockout stage place up for grabs, this could be a tasty tussle in LA.
