Scotland's hopes of progression took a huge hit on the opening night of Euro 2024 as they were roundly thumped 5-1 by hosts Germany in Munich but all hope is not lost as they still have two games to turn their campaign around, starting with Wednesday night's clash against Switzerland.
The Swiss side got off to a more encouraging start in their first match, winning out 3-1 against a Hungary side that many pundits were tipping up as potential dark horses prior to the tournament. A late goal from substitute Breel Embolo put a sheen on the victory.
Given that 10 goals were scored across those two opening games in this group, we're expecting a few more in this game. Scotland may be lacking in firepower but this Swiss defence is shaky to say the least - they failed to keep clean sheets in games against Andorra and Israel in qualifying, even conceding three times in a home draw with Belarus.
But in reality it's at the other end of the pitch where we're expecting more of the action to take place. The Tartan Army were all over the place defensively against Germany and they've lost one of their first-choice defenders to suspension after Ryan Porteous' red card.
It's another Ryan that we're backing to go in the referee's book on Wednesday night though. Scotland winger Ryan Christie committed three fouls in the defeat to die Mannschaft, including one that was originally given as a penalty before VAR overturned the decision to give a free-kick.
The Bournemouth man has never been afraid to get stuck in and he averaged over one foul per game in the Premier League in 2023/24, picking up six yellow cards in the process including one in the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in May.
To round off this bet-builder, we're looking at one of the Swiss attacking players to be among the shots at the RheinEnergie Stadion, despite him not being one of the three men on the scoresheet for El Nati against Hungary on Saturday.
Dan Ndoye took three shots in that victory over the Magyars and the Bologna youngster averaged more than one shot per game in Serie A this season despite not necessarily being first choice at Stadio Renato Dall'ara. He'll cause the Scottish backline problems in this game.
