Man City hammered RB Leipzig 8-1 in the round-of-16 stage of this competition to set up this quarter-final tie against German powerhouses Bayern Munich.
Pep Guardiola’s men are in incredible form, having won seven games in a row in all competitions, scoring a massive 31 goals in that run.
City are fighting on three fronts as they sit 2nd in the Premier League table - six points behind Arsenal with a game in hand - and are also playing a FA Cup semi-final later this month. However, the Champions League is a competition they have never managed to win so they will be fired up to get a first-leg advantage at the Etihad against Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich side.
The German Champions eased past a tough PSG side in the round-of-16 stage 3-0 on aggregate and will provide a tough challenge to Guardiola’s side, having won all eight games so far in this competition.
They sit top of the Bundesliga table but come into this game with mixed recent form, having lost two of their last four games in all competitions including a cup quarter-final loss against Freiburg.
These two sides have met seven times in this competition before, with City winning four and Bayern winning three of those meetings. It is an incredibly tough game to call and I will be steering clear of result-based selections in my preview.
A blockbuster Champions league clash awaits us and as usual, I have you covered with two of my best betting angles included in the preview below:

Man City vs Bayern Munich Tips
Bet Builder Selections:
- Joshua Kimmich Over 1.5 tackles in the match
- Over 0 goals in the match for Manchester City
- Over 0 cards in the match for Bayern Munich
Joshua Kimmich is averaging the most tackles for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga (2.5 per game). He is also averaging 2.3 tackles per game in the Champions League and managed at least two tackles in both legs of the round-of-16 stages against PSG. In a tough away game I expect him to get stuck in and comfortably get at least two tackles.
As for the goals, Manchester City are scoring for fun at the moment with 31 goals scored in their last seven games, while Bayern have conceded a goal in four of their last five games in all competitions.
Finally, Manchester City’s opposition have received a card in 14/14 games at the Etihad Stadium in the league and with a card-happy referee, Jesus Gil Manzano, in charge a Bayern side that average over 13 fouls per game in the Champions League should get at least one booking.
Combining these 3 selections gives us a solid Bet Builder @ 5/6 and I am happy to stake 1pt on that as our main bet for this game.
Benjamin Pavard has picked up three yellow cards in his last five games for Bayern Munich in all competitions and will be directly up against the tricky Jack Grealish.
15/4 for him to be booked represents great value especially with a card-happy ref in charge of the proceedings.
I'm happy to take this with a small 0.25pt stake as the second bet for this game.
