Love Island Games 2023 Odds: All you need to know about latest Love Island innovation
The reality TV show that has over the years thrown up more meme-worthy material than any other ventures into a brave new world on November 1st. Love Island has of course had phenomenal success in its original format and although perhaps the glory years are now behind us, the show still has a huge army of diehard fans.
Love Island Games is the first time the producers have brought a full international alumni of former Love Island contestants together and in an idyllic villa in Fiji, sparks aplenty are sure to fly…
Just when you think those producers are out of ideas… Bang! The ‘Love Island Games’ are announced! We saw in the latest UK and US shows that they were testing the waters in bringing back old contestants and indeed sending iconic Love Islanders to different countries, but this latest iteration of Love Island promises to be on a whole new level.
Official announcements around the finer details of the show are thin on the ground but at this stage it looks like there will be plenty more challenges and games (clues in the title) which could grant the Love Island veterans immunity from potential public votes. Maya Jama has been confirmed as the host from the UK show, alongside former UK Love Island hero Maura Higgins. Maura was a guest star on the latest series of Love Island USA which was perhaps foreshadowing for her getting this role.
The international voice of Love Island Iain Stirling will be providing the jokes on narration duty. The UK, as the original home of Love Island, provides the majority of the cast members and some all timers are set to head to Fiji. Maura’s ex boyfriend Curtis Pritchard will be strutting his stuff once more, along with Georgia Steele and Megan Barton-Hanson. Eyal Booker is back along with Liberty Poole and Toby Aromolaran, while 2023 heart-throb Scott van der Sluis heads to the Games after a stint in both the Love Island UK and USA villas over the summer. His passport must’ve taken quite the pasting of late.
From the USA history books Kyra Green and Ray Gantt of Season 1 fame are back, while Love Island USA royalty in season 2 winner Justine Ndiba returns. A host more American entrants have been confirmed, including Imani Wheeler who was in the villa recently on Season 5.
There is Australian representation too with a couple of winners in Mitch Hibberd (S3) and Tina Provis (S4) alongside other past entrants such as Callum Hole and Jessica Lasurdo. Adding some real international flavour, we will also see past Love Islanders from France (Steph Blackos), Germany (Aurelia Lamprecht) and Sweden (Lisa Celander).
With the show set to be streamed on Peacock in the USA, it was thought that ITV would pick up the rights in the UK. However, an ITV spokesman denied this and so as yet there is no confirmed broadcaster in Britain. This series should not be confused with the 2024 concept ITV are launching which is Love Island: All Stars, which will follow the traditional format but will be packed with only Love Island veterans of the past.
