Heading into Monday’s encounter The Foxes currently possess a seven point lead at the top of the second-tier table having collected 65 points through 27 matches. A win here would see them go 10 points clear and would really send out a message to the rest of the promotion chasers that just one automatic spot is now available for other sides to contest.
Few pundits would have predicted quite how well Ipswich’s first half to the season would pan out considering they were only promoted from League One a few months prior. Avoiding defeat in the Midlands would take Kieran McKenna’s men back into the automatic places, however they will be well aware Southampton are breathing down their necks after an impressive run of 21 games without a loss.
Leicester vs Ipswich Tips
Our best bet of the evening is for Leicester City to win the game at 17/20. It has been well documented that Enzo Maresca’s side have made a record-breaking start to the season and despite having a few injuries and players missing at the Africa Cup of Nations, we think the hosts look a big price here.
Ipswich have failed to score in three of their last five away matches and have only won two of their last seven away from Portman Road. It’s no secret that their form on the road has been well below their home form and it’s worth noting that in their last five away they have been to play-off candidates West Brom and been beaten 2-0, as well as a trip to Leeds in which they were hammered 4-0 and only managed two shots in the match.
Leicester’s home form is nothing far from remarkable this season with 11 wins from 13 in front of their own fans and an aggregate score of 16-3 across their last five. This is a chance for The Foxes to really cement their status as potential league winners this season and we think it’s one of the only times you will see such a big price for them to collect all three points this term.
At 14/1 we’ve also picked out a goalscorer double which consists of both Conor Chaplin and Kiernan Desbury-Hall to find the net. At the time of writing this is available at 14/1 via the Bet Builder feature.
Only Morgan Whittaker of Plymouth is averaging more shots per game in the second-tier this season than Conor Chaplin who has let off 3.6 per game on average. Chaplin is the top scorer for Ipswich this season and will be hoping he can breach a Leicester defence that has failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five across all formats.
With Jamie Vardy out injured and Patson Daka and Kelechi Ihenacho away at AFCON, more impetus will be on Leicester’s attackers to provide the goals, but they may well look to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who is their joint top scorer in the Championship. In total Dewsbury-Hall has notched nine goals this season, however he has bagged in three of his last five league outings! Combining Chaplin and Dewsbury-Hall to score pays 14/1 on Monday.
