Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg Odds: Early betting lines for billionaire brawl

In one of 2023's most bizarre stories, billionaire tech moguls Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have expressed interest in settling their beef inside the UFC octagon.
As the tech race heats up, so do the possibilities of this fight materialising. What seemed to start out as senseless banter has now evolved into a tangible feud with escalating stakes.
Unibet/BetUK are one of the first betting sites to set odds for the potential bout and we've explored the pair's history, along with the early betting lines.
Timeline
Twitter owner and CTO Elon Musk was the initiator for this brawl, taking to his own platform to pose the offer. When responding to a series of posts breaking news of his app's new rival Threads, Musk said: "I'm up for a cage match if he is lol."
On Instagram the next day, the platform's creator Mark Zuckerberg responded using the stories feature where he had taken a screenshot of Musk's tweet and captioned the image, "send me location" - a catchphrase coined by former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
After days of hype built around the prospective clash, UFC president Dana White weighed in on the topic, posting a video of himself wearing a Zuckerberg vs Musk t-shirt which has subsequently been merchandised by the organisation.
At the beginning of July, White was quoted as saying he would help organise an exhibition match between the tech CEOs, following on that both men had expressed their desire to fight and agreed on there being a charity component to any scuffle.
Since then, both business magnates have been snapped training with MMA royalty. First, Musk was pictured working out with UFC legend Georges St. Pierre, mixed martial arts coach John Danaher and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu black belt Lex Fridman.
Zuck himself opted for present elite UFC fighters to help condition him for any potential match, seen posing with middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and featherweight title holder Alexander Volkanovski.
Odds
In mid July, a market for the pair's proposed tussle emerged. A handful of bookmakers have priced up odds for this preposterous combat event, posting Mark Zuckerberg as the outright favourite.
Unibet and BetUK go 2/5 for the Facebook, Instagram and now Threads entrepreneur to win the match should it happen.
On the other end, despite his physiological advantages, Musk is held as a 7/4 underdog to overcome Zuck inside the cage.
If or when this match up is made, several other markets will surface, including the winner's method of victory, an under/over line for the number of rounds, and draw no bet. You can also almost guarantee there will be an endless stream of specials available on the event.
Will They-Won't They?
As of right now, no contest has been officially scheduled. But from what evidence we have so far: how likely is it to happen?
Not too long ago, Dana White had dismissed the idea of gimmick fights within the organisation. Perhaps this was merely to disregard any assertions of a Jon Jones-Francis Ngannou match up because he has since seemingly warmed to the idea. Both in this instance and when discussing a crossover contest between UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones and boxing heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, White entertained that he would be willing to host both fights.
White is already familiar with avid fight fan Zuck who has attended many UFC cards over the years, and like us all, is aware of the Harvard dropout's jiu-jitsu training. Zuckerberg regularly trains in the discipline and has even started competing - securing two medals in his first competition in May.
If the two are as willing as they say they are to fight, the most obvious stumbling block is the noticeable size difference. Musk is 6'1" and has previously told Twitter he almost never works out. Meanwhile, Zuck is 5'7", trains, competes and is very active. Whether any parameters will be put into place remains to be seen, although Musk has told White that he would not be willing to lose any weight for a fight with Zuck.
Ultimately, this is a war of egos. Zuckerberg has accepted the challenge and will be keen to further test his skills on the biggest of stages. As for Musk, it doesn't look good for his already incredibly damaged image if he worms his way out of this exhibition after making the proposal. There's also the significant matter of the pair's social media battle raging on that could motivate or deter any contest from happening.
