Group B
Mon, 21st Nov - 19:00
Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan
Wales qualified for the World Cup for the first time for 64 years after defeating Ukraine 1-0 in Cardiff in June and will open their campaign here against the USA.
2021 Gold Cup Final winners USA have been installed as the favourites to to beat Wales and stamp an early three points on the board, in what is a pivotal match that neither country will want to lose.
The USA stuttered into World Cup qualification after finishing third in the CONCACAF standings behind Canada and Mexico. They won just half of their games and suffered losses to Costa Rica, Canada and Panama.
Notable English based players include Chelsea's Christian Pulisic, Norwich's Josh Sergeant and Man City's back up keeper Zack Stefan, who is number one for the USMNT.
Wales had a superb qualification campaign, finishing second in group E behind then No.1 side in the world Belgium. Wales then returned to football's biggest stage for the first time since 1958 after beating Austria and Ukraine in the play-offs.
The two countries have met just twice in international competition. The first fixture was in 2003 in San Jose where goals by Landon Donovan and Eddie Lewis saw the US stroll to a 2-0 victory. The most recent fixture was played in Swansea in 2020, where a young USMNT drew 0-0 with their Welsh counterparts.
