France and England meet for the fourth time at a World Cup as they battle for third place in Miami. Les Bleus claimed a 2-1 victory when the sides last met in the quarter-finals of Qatar 2022, while England came out on top in their previous World Cup meetings in 1966 and 1982.
Overall, England still hold the advantage in the head-to-head record, with 17 wins to France's 10, although Les Bleus have had the upper hand in recent years, winning five of the last seven meetings between the countries.
The bookmakers make France the 1/1 favourites to end their campaign on a high in what will be Didier Deschamps' final match in charge. Les Bleus have won six of their seven matches at the tournament, with their only defeat coming against European champions Spain in the semi-finals. Having also benefited from an extra day's rest, France will be confident of signing off with a victory.
England, meanwhile, will still reeling from a heartbreaking 2-1 semi-final defeat to defending champions Argentina. Anthony Gordon's second-half opener had the Three Lions within touching distance of a first World Cup final since 1966, but they relinquished control of the contest and were punished by two late goals.
Remarkably, England managed just 12% possession between taking the lead in the 55th minute and Lautaro Martinez's winner in the 92nd.
Thomas Tuchel's side now face the challenge of recovering both physically and mentally for the third-place play-off. England are priced at 14/5 to finish their tournament with a victory, while the draw is available at 3/1.
