Established in 1950, Burton started out in the lower regions of the non-league ladder and have gradually worked their way through the leagues. Having won the Northern Premier League in the 2001-2002 season, the Brewers competed in the Conference for several seasons and it was whilst they were in that league that they gained the biggest result of their history.

Hasselbaink took charge of Burton back in November 2014, replacing Gary Rowett in the dugout, and went on to steer the Brewers up to League One, before Clough returned in December and proceeded to lead the club into the Championship.
A mixed set of recent results has seen Burton Albion collect wins versus Cardiff City, Bolton Wanderers, AFC Wimbledon while suffering adverse results at Lincoln City, Luton Town, Lincoln City, Plymouth Argyle, Peterborough United. Draws against Huddersfield Town, Doncaster Rovers has seen them show mid-table form at best.
