Gareth Ainsworth
After a history-making decade at Wycombe, Gareth Ainsworth became the new manager of QPR on 21st February 2023, but on 28th October he was sacked as manager leaving the club on just eight points after 14 games.
The former Wycombe midfielder became the club's caretaker player-manager early on in the 2012/13 season, before bagging the job on a permanent basis towards the end of the campaign.
In his first full season in charge of Wycombe Ainsworth kept his troops in the Football League on the final day (2013/14), before bouncing back the following season and coming agonisingly close to leading his troops to promotion - losing the play-off final on penalties. Although, on the plus side, he did scoop the LMA League Two Manager of the Year award.
He went on to win promotion in 2018, before he preserved the club's third-tier status and then conjured up a fairytale promotion up into the Championship, via the play-offs.
Ainsworth's only other taste of life in the dugout came at ex-club QPR, filling in on a caretaker basis on two occasions in 2008 and 2009.
Outside of football the long-haired Ainsworth is famed for being the lead singer of rock band Road to Eden, while he is a devout Catholic who has has a passion for poetry.
