Darrell Clarke
Darrell Clarke
Darrell Clarke is the manager of Port Vale.
Clarke became assistant to John Ward at Bristol Rovers in June 2013. Clarke was promoted into the hot seat in March 2014, although he was unable to preserve the club's League Two status as they tumbled out of the Football League - on the final day - for the first time in 94 years.
However, Clarke and Rovers bounced back, holding their nerve in a play-off penalty shoot-out, which shot them back into League Two at the first time of asking.
On their return to the Football League Rovers won a second successive promotion up to League One - achieved on the final day of the 2015/16 season - which was followed by a decent 10th place finish.
As player-manager of Salisbury Clarke led the club to promotion from the Southern League into the Conference South, then up into the Conference - via the play-offs on both occasions. During his time in charge of the Whites he also impressively guided them through to the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in the club's their history.
