Team Profiles:
Portugal
To Qualify: 1/6
To Win Group H: 8/11
To Win World Cup: 12/1
World Cup appearances: 8
Best performance: Third Place (1966)
Head Coach: Fernando Santos
Star player: Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)
Golden Boot favourite: Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) - 117 Int. goals - 14/1
Our verdict: It's astonishing to think that up until 2002 Portugal had only ever been to the World Cup on two occasions. Since then the Selecao have been to every tournament, with a large reason behind their success in the 21st century being down to Cristiano Ronaldo, who has now scored more International goals than any other player in the history of the game.
This 2022 crop however is far from a one-man team and is stacked with quality, from Joao Cancelo and Ruben Dias in defence, Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes in midfield, as well as Andre Silva and Diogo Jota joining Ronaldo in attack. This group is winnable for Portugal and we expect them to start with three points against Ghana. A quarter-final elimination is our prediction for how deep Ronaldo and co will go into the tournament.
Team Profiles:
Uruguay
To Qualify: 1/2
To Win Group H: 21/10
To Win World Cup: 50/1
World Cup appearances: 14
Best performance: Winners (1930, 1950)
Head Coach: Diego Alonso
Star player: Darwin Nunez (Liverpool)
Golden Boot favourite: Luis Suarez (Atletico Madrid) - 68 Int. goals - 40/1
Our verdict: Uruguay have lifted the World Cup trophy twice, most recently reaching the quarter-finals in 2018. This time round Uruguay are odds-on to progress to the knockout stages which we like the look of the South Americans doing and would not put off any punters including them in their acca's. In Darwin Nunez, Luis Suarez, and Federico Valverde, Uruguay possess some of the biggest attacking talents in Europe, and with this in mind, we think they will have enough to see off Ghana and South Korea and progress to the knockout stages.
Team Profiles:
South Korea
To Qualify: 5/2
To Win Group H: 12/1
To Win World Cup: 400/1
World Cup appearances: 11
Best performance: Fourth Place (2002)
Head Coach: Paulo Bento
Star player: Son Heung-min (Spurs)
Golden Boot favourite: Son Heung-min (Spurs) - 33 Int. goals - 100/1
Our verdict: South Korea's main objective will be to advance to the knockout stages of the World Cup in Qatar, for which they can be backed at 5/2 to do so. Unfortunately, this isn't a price we would be rushing to take considering the opponents South Korea is set to face in Group H. One would think they have to pick up at least a point against Uruguay in their opening fixture to stand a chance of qualifying with last season's Premier League top scorer Son Heung-min the key to unlocking opposition defences.
Team Profiles:
Ghana
To Qualify: 13/5
To Win Group H: 14/1
To Win World Cup: 300/1
World Cup appearances: 11
Best performance: Fourth Place (2002)
Head Coach: Otto Addo
Star player: Kamaldeen Sulemana (Rennes)
Golden Boot favourite: Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace) - 19 Int. goals - 200/1
Our verdict: In 2010 Ghana became only the third African side to reach the quarter-finals of a World Cup. They have been dealt a tough hand in Group H and are the outsiders of the four teams to qualify for the knockout stages. Ghana qualified for the knockout stages in 2006, 2010, and 2014, but this time round we are predicting that they will finish bottom of their group,
