World Athletics Championships 2023: Women's 100m Odds & Contenders

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shericka Jackson, Sha'Carri Richardson, and Marie-Josee Ta Lou each look prepped and primed in the battle to be crowned the fastest woman on earth in the eagerly anticipated 100m at the World Athletics Championships.
The British duo of Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita will hope to progress from their semi-finals on Monday (7.35pm) - and perhaps even go on to medal - with the Final set for 8.35pm, screened live on BBC.
We've taken a look at the main contenders and their odds for gold.
Women's 100m Tip
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce
Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce is the favourite at a best-priced 11/8 with Betfred.
The sprinting legend has already pocketed a whopping five 100m golds at the World Championships, most recently in 2022 when she beat fellow Jamaicans Shericka Jackson and Elaine Thompson-Herah.
Now 36, she's endured an injury-hit season of just three races, although they've all been wins and come over the last month.
Ultimately, her experience of excelling in the big high-pressure moments means she comes in as the bookmakers favourite to secure a record sixth crown.
Shericka Jackson
Shericka Jackson is the fastest woman in the world this year, having flown home in 10.65 at the Jamaican Championships last month - a result which meant she became the joint-fifth fastest woman of all time.
Jackson finished 2nd behind Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce at last year's World Championships, before going on to win 200m gold, which is her specialist event.
Yet given her electric form in the 100m this year, the 29-year-old certainly catches the eye at 3/1 (UniBet) to go one podium place higher in the 100m this time around.
Marie-Josee Ta Lou
Marie-Josee Ta Lou has won a World silver and bronze in the 100m but now, after suffering just the one loss all season, she has her sights set on gold (4/1).
The Ivorian, who is the African record holder (10.72 - making her the eighth fastest woman ever), has a best time of 10.75 this year and hasn't lost a race since April; winning her last 11 on the spin.
Sha'Carri Richardson
Sha'Carri Richardson is the second fastest woman so far in 2023 (10.71, July) in a year in which she's won nine of her 10 races, with the sole defeat coming a month ago to Julien Alfred.
Richardson, who didn't compete at the event last year, has won two Diamond League events this year and looks like she represents a tempting price at 5/1 with UniBet.
Selected Others
The above four sprinters are likely to battle it out for the podium places, but you can't ignore Dina Asher-Smith who won silver in 2019 and bronze in 2022.
In total, she has 15 medals at major championships including a gold in the 200m at the 2019 edition of the World Champs. She's a massive 40/1 to stun the field and scoop 100m gold on Monday.
Fellow Britain Daryll Neita is a huge 150/1 outsider, while Saint Lucia's Julien Alfred - who beat Sha'Carri Richardson earlier this year - is available at 20/1.
