World Athletics Championships 2025: Men's 100m Odds & Contenders

Noah Lyles, Kishane Thompson, and Oblique Seville are among the main betting contenders for what promises to be a riveting race for gold at this year's World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
The betting market suggests that we are in store for a highly competitive men's 100m in Tokyo and, if it's anything like the better we had at the 2024 Olympics, then we are in for an absolute treat.
Note: The men's final will take place at 2.20pm (BST) on Sunday 14th September.

Below we run through the candidates to win the men's 100m at the 2025 World Athletics Championships, according to the latest odds.
Kishane Thompson: 1/1
Kishane Thompson has been installed as the pre-event frontrunner for gold at a best-priced 1/1 with Sky Bet.
Thompson missed out on gold by an agonising 0.005 seconds at last summer's dramatic Olympics in a race which saw all eight men finish under 10 seconds.
The Jamaican heads to Japan gunning for revenge over Lyles, whom he recently beat in the Silesia Diamond League, which was their first meeting since the Olympics.
Thompson is the fastest man in the world this year after he clocked a sensational 9.75sec at the Jamaican Championships, a time that rocketed him up to 6th in the all-time list.
Noah Lyles: 7/4
Defending champion Noah Lyles is out for a third consecutive major 100m gold following his triumphs at the 2023 World Athletics Championships and 2024 Olympics.
He's not had the best of seasons because of an ankle injury, with his time of 9.90 ranked joint-12 in the 2025 standings, but as we well know, the outspoken American is a man for the big occasion with a PB of 9.79, which he set in Paris last summer.
Oblique Seville: 11/4
Oblique Seville placed fourth at both the 2022 and 2023 World Athletics Championships and finished eighth at the Olympics in Paris last summer.
Seville recently carded a very impressive 9.87 seconds in shocking conditions to win the Diamond League in Lausanne, Switzerland, ahead of Lyles in a race in which no other sprinter went under 10 seconds.
With a season's best of 9.83, Seville will be itching to not only get on the podium but mount a serious challenge for gold.
Kenny Bednarek: 10/1
Kenny Bednarek leads the charge behind the above trio at 10/1.
A silver medalist in the 200m at the last Olympics and 2022 World Athletics Championships, Bednarek has showcased his ambitions to challenge for the 100m podium this year after he clocked a 9.79 PB at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships last month - only Thompson has run faster this year.
Letsile Tebogo: 33/1
Letsile Tebogo is 33/1 to go one better than the 2023 World Athletics Championships and secure gold as he bids to break the American-Jamaican monopoly that has dominated the last 10 men's world 100m titles.
The Botswana sprinter famously won gold in the 200m at the 2024 Olympics and is the 15/8 second favourite to win 200m gold in Tokyo.
However, he's only had one 100m race so far this season - 10.03 in May - although he does hold a PB of 9.86 in the discipline.
Zharnel Hughes: 50/1
Zharnel Hughes leads the charge for Great Britain, though he enters as an 80/1 outsider in the betting.
He was in sensational form ahead of the 2023 World Athletics Championships, breaking two long-standing British records in the 100m (9.83) and 200m during the build-up, before going on to claim bronze in Budapest behind Lyles and Tebogo.
While he missed out on the 100m final at the Paris Olympics, Hughes did help secure a bronze medal for Team GB in the 4x100m relay.
His best time of the year so far is 9.91, which he set in early July.
