Wimbledon Wednesday Tips: 14/1 treble bet for third day
Day 2 of Wimbledon proved to be an absolute washout for the outside courts, but we're hoping that we get to see plenty of tennis on what promises to be a jam-packed Wednesday at SW19.
We've picked out our best picks for the rescheduled third day, which we've combined into a treble. Without further ado, let’s get started.
Wimbledon Tuesday Tips
Over 1.5 tie breaks in Maxime Cressy vs Laslo Djere
First up we’re siding with over 1.5 tie breaks in Maxime Cressy vs Laslo Djere.
Cressy thrives during the grass season and has earned himself the title of the King of the Serve and Volley.
In last year’s Wimbledon, Cressy didn’t go so far but in the first game over 1.5 tie breaks landed against Felix Auger-Aliasime.
Djere and Cressy have met twice in the past and a tie break has landed in both of those, but this time, they’ll be playing a best of five set format which gives us plenty more room for more games.
We can see both players holding serve for the majority of the match, meaning tie breaks could be a common theme.
I think given the style of these two players, 5/4 for over 1.5 tie breaks is a great bet.
Christopher Eubanks to win 3-0 against Thiago Monteiro
Speaking of big servers, we’ve got the 6ft7 Christopher Eubanks, who has been on fire recently and is only getting better as his career goes on.
Grass looks like the best surface for the American and he recently claimed his first ATP title after winning the Mallorca Open in quite convincing fashion and has won seven of his last eight matches on the grass surface.
Thiago Monteiro, on the other hand, is much more skilled on the clay court and has not played a single grass court match since July 2022 and even then he lost in straight sets, and the game after at Wimbledon.
The clay court is completely different to grass: the pace, the shot selection, and movement is all completely different and that is all the Brazilian has practiced on recently.
Eubanks is bang in form on the surface and has proved that he is one of the better grass players, this should be very comfortable for him.
Yosuke Watanuki to beat Marc-Andrea Huesler
Yosuke Watanuki has been performing great on the grass court so far in his career, recording emphatic wins over Feliciano Lopez and grass court specialist Hubert Hurkacz.
Watanuki fell at the last hurdle in Wimbledon qualifying but was granted a lucky loser opportunity and is now in the first round against Huesler.
Huesler had a great 2022 but has been a bit on-and-off in 2023. He currently has a record of 15 wins and 18 losses in 2023 and the consistency is worrying going into a Grand Slam. He has never made it past the first round of any slam and with an opponent like Watanuki who can be tricky on this surface, I’d argue he’s up against it this time.
This match is very much a coin flip in my eyes but the bookmakers seem to favour the Swiss player. With that in mind, the value has to be Watanuki at 6/5.
That leaves us with a 14/1 treble for Tuesday’s matches with Bet365 and all we can do now is hope the rain stays away and the winners come our way!
