Wimbledon Day 9 Betting Tips: Cameron Norrie has excellent opportunity to book semi-final spot

We are already approaching Day 9 of The Championships, which features four singles quarter-finals, two apiece from the men’s and women’s draws.
There are some intriguing contests on the cards as players seek to secure a prized spot in the semi-finals.
Below we pick out our latest treble bet for the tournament…
Wimbledon Day 9 Tips
- Tatjana Maria v Jule Niemeier - Niemeier to win
- David Goffin v Cameron Norrie - Both players to win a set
- Novak Djokovic v Jannik Sinner - Both players to win a set
Tatjana Maria v Jule Niemeier - Niemeier to win
Up first is an interesting experience vs youth clash between fellow Germans Tatjana Maria and Jule Niemeier.
Niemeier’s performances and progress at Wimbledon has been remarkable. Prior to the tournament she’d only ever featured in the main draw of one Slam - and had never won a match - however, fast-forward to the second week and she’s one match away from a semi-final. The unseeded 22-year-old brought Heather Watson’s spirited charge to an end in convincing fashion - “I felt like I was playing a serve-bot type thing,” Watson said - and previously booted out second seed Anett Kontaveit 6-4 6-0.
Tatjana Maria, the 34-year-old mother of two, is also exceeding expectations and making waves; saving a couple of match points in her victory over 12th seed Jelena Ostapenko. It’s going to be a cracking match-up on Tuesday but for me it’s the big-serving youngster Niemeier who will progress at 8/15 with William Hill. Her eye-catching and dominant displays have been breathtaking at times - entwining a devastating combination of power and finesse - and given the open nature of the draw she even looks worth a nod at 12/1 to go all the way.
David Goffin v Cameron Norrie - Both players to win a set
British singles hopes are now entirely pinned on Cam Norrie who ventures into uncharted waters on Tuesday in what will be his first ever Slam quarter-final. The leftie has an incredible opportunity to book a semi-final spot with bookies’ installing him as hot favourite in his last-8 clash against experienced Belgian David Goffin.
Norrie is simply in superb shape right now. His confidence is sky high, using speed around the court and ferocious forehands to blow away his last two opponents, whereas Goffin battled brilliantly to edge a thrilling five-setter against Frances Tiafoe, in what was the longest match so far at this year’s tournament (4h 36m).
I fully believe Norrie will become the first Englishman to feature in the semi-finals since Tim Henman. He’s as short as 4/11 in the betting which doesn’t stand-out, however I do like the look of both players to win a set at 8/13 with William Hill. Goffin is enjoying his joint best-ever showing at a Slam and while he’ll need to recover fast following his lengthy Tiafoe showing, I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t steal a set off Norrie.
Novak Djokovic v Jannik Sinner - Both players to win a set
Novak Djokovic remains the red-hot favourite for a seventh Wimbledon crown. While I believe his pursuit of glory will continue through to the semi-finals, he faces a real challenge against Italian youngster Jannik Sinner who has all the tools to give the 20-time Slam winner a severe headache on Tuesday.
Sinner, who possesses fluid movement and variety to his game, previously pummelled Andy Murray’s victor, John Isner, in straight sets. Then on Sunday the former ski champion was brilliant in his 6-1, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 upset of teenage sensation and fifth seed Carlos Alcaraz, who many thought would be the man to cause Djokovic problems in the quarter-finals.
Instead, it’s Sinner who deservedly takes to the court against the Serb and I’m backing him to take at least a set off his opponent, who has lost a set to both Soonwoo Kwon and Tim van Rijthoven so far.
Both players to win a set is an attractive price at 21/20 (William Hill), while you can go one step further and back Sinner to go down in five sets at 15/2.
