What next for Swansea? Jody Morris, John Terry, Cameron Toshack, and Alan Tate linked

Swansea City’s search for Steve Cooper’s successor hit a dead end after news broke that the leading contender, QPR assistant manager John Eustace, would not be switching Loftus Road for the Liberty Stadium.
Eustace had emerged as the hot favourite for the Championship post and was as short as 1/10 before betting was suspended on the market. He was interviewed for the job on Thursday, with an appointment then expected over the weekend, however he’s turned down the opportunity and will now reportedly sign a new contract at QPR.
With just 13 days to go until Swansea begin the new season, who could the club turn to now?
Cameron Toshack: 2/1
Swansea’s former youth coach Cameron Toshack is back at the top of the next Swansea manager odds (2/1), having briefly led the way last week. Cameron, son of legendary ex-Swans boss John, led the U23s to the Premier League 2 Division 2 title and Premier League Cup double - with the likes of Joe Rodon, Daniel James, and Oli McBurnie - then went on to retain the latter.
The 51-year-old then spent 10 months in charge of Cyprus side Pafos FC where, in difficult circumstances, he accumulated the highest managerial win rate in the club’s history.
Jody Morris: 5/2
Jody Morris, 42, can currently be backed at 5/2 to venture out in his own right as a manager. Morris was assistant to Frank Lampard at both Derby and Chelsea, and prior to that enjoyed immense success working with the Blues’ youth teams.
Morris, a highly rated coach who was recently linked with the England U21s job, led the Chelsea U18s to a treble in 2016/17 followed by a quadruple the following season - winning 53 of his 65 matches - and he played a pivotal role in the progress of young talents Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reece James, and Billy Gilmour.
Alan Tate: 3/1
First team coach Alan Tate, 3/1, was scheduled to take charge of Swansea for their pre-season friendly with Bristol Rover, however the clash was cancelled due to positive cases of Covid-19.
As a player, former skipper Tate made 340 appearances for the Swans and has been part of the club’s coaching staff since 2019, having previously worked with the youth sides.
John Terry: 5/1
A relatively short-price in the betting at 5/1, the former England and Chelsea captain John Terry is gunning for his first opportunity in management
It was reported that he wasn't in the mix last week, but could he be propelled into the frame following the news that Eustace is no longer getting the job?
Michael Flynn: 12/1
Long linked with a move up the EFL ladder, Michael Flynn is a 12/1 shot for the job. He’s been in charge of fellow Welsh side Newport since 2017, during which he’s taken his troops to two League Two play-off finals.
He was recently favourite for the Swindon job but nothing came of it. Should Swansea come calling Newport will do everything they can to keep hold of their highly-rated young boss.
