Wales vs Fiji Tips
Fourth in the 2019 Rugby World Cup, Wales have regressed considerably and will face a huge uphill struggle to try and emulate those heroics of four years ago, but Warren Gatland's side does head into Sunday's clash with Fiji as warm 1/2 favourites. Three defeats in their last four matches, Wales have struggled for any consistency in recent times and were a lowly fifth in the Six Nations back in the spring. Fiji, on the other hand, are a nation that continue to blossom on the world rugby stage and they were last seen shocking England at Twickenham with a sumptuous 30-22 victory.
Coached by former international lock Simon Raiwalui, Fiji will head into Sunday's match in Bordeaux as the 15/8 outsiders, but with their adversaries struggling for any consistency they will fancy their chances of causing a huge upset and a win here would give them a huge boost of qualifying through Group C. The draw isn't completely unfeasible and is an eye-catching 28/1 with Boylesports, but with Wales struggling to sparkle under Gatland in recent times then the value lies with Fiji, who will be riding the crest of a wave following that England success and they can kick off their World Cup with a fine win.
Fiji are sure to bring their customary physicality to the clash with Wales and if they are to get their noses in front then their pack will need to dominate at the breakdown, but the sevens specialists also have some phenomenal talents in the backline and the focal point of their attack will be Bristol Bears star Semi Radradra, who has been frightening Premiership defensive lines for a couple of seasons now.
The 15st+ battering ram will be looking to target Welsh fly-half Dan Biggar, who can sometimes be a little suspect defensively and with his raw power it would be no surprise to see him walk through the No.10 on a couple of occasions. If the flankers fail to help Biggar out in defence then Radradra could well be primed to bag his first Rugby World Cup try. He's gone over the whitewash plenty of times for Bristol in his time at Ashton Gate and while the first tryscorer odds could be worth a little nibble at 16/1, it's worth backing him to score in the 80 minutes at 12/5 as his ability to maintain his lung-busting runs in the midfield will put their toll on the Welsh defence.
With five tries in 11 internationals for Fiji, the former Rugby League star Radradra is the way to go in the anytime try scorer market, as he can inspire a shock victory for the underdogs, who can show their potential World Cup outsider credentials with a narrow win over the Welsh.
