US Open Men's Final Preview
Jannik Sinner is on a quest to land his second Slam of the season following his victory at the Australian Open.
Since dropping the first set in his first match, the dominant Italian has lost just one of his subsequent 19 sets en route to his first final in New York, and is well-fancied to lift the trophy at 1/5 with most bookmakers.
Since 2003 when Andy Roddick overcame Juan Carlos Ferrero, no American man has triumphed at the US Open, an alarming statistic and one that Fritz will be gunning change after he became the first of his countrymen to reach the final in New York for 18 years (Roddick lost to Roger Federer in 2006).
The 26-year-old, who will play in his first Slam final, began with a hat-trick of straight set wins and has since negotiated his way past Casper Ruud and Alexander Zverev in four sets, then held his nerve to defeat fellow American Frances Tiafoe 4-6 7-5 4-6 6-4 6-1 in the semi-finals.
Fritz has been handed odds of 18/5 to upset to odds and deliver the home fans the win they've long craved.

Jannik Sinner vs Taylor Fritz: Head-to-Head
- 2023: Indian Wells - Sinner won 6-4 4-6 6-4
- 2021: Indian Wells - Fritz won 6-4 6-3
Sinner is very short at 1/5 to claim the win and the title, prompting me to steer clear of the match odds market. Instead, I'm siding with a Sinner victory and both players to win a set, which is currently best priced at 11/8 with BoyleSports.
Sinner is enjoying an electric run of 12 consecutive wins following his victory in Cincinnati last month; a tournament that looks to be a good precursor as it was also won by Aryna Sabalenka who went on to win the US Open's women's crown on Saturday,
It was in Cincinnati where Sinner overcame notable opponents such as Tiafoe, Zverev, and Rublev. During the US Open, he successfully defeated old foe Medvedev, who previously bested him at Wimbledon, and demonstrated his impressive form with a straight-sets victory over Draper in the semi-finals.
It's evident that he's not yet peaked at the US Open and will relish the opportunity to raise his game if pushed hard by Fritz. He also has the valuable experience of winning a Slam already, which is a huge hurdle to overcome.
The 23-year-old is a red-hot favourite for a good reason but I don't think he will have it all his own way on Sunday night. Fritz will benefit from the crowd's support and will likely gain confidence from his remarkable performances throughout the tournament.
