World Cup 2022 Odds: Four each-way shouts for the top scorer market

We all know the big players in the market for the World Cup Golden Boot betting. You’ve got your usual suspects such as Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, Karim Benzema, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
We’re all expecting them to score a fair few goals this tournament, but what about the potential outsiders in the top-scorer race?
We’ve seen players like James Rodriguez win it in the past at huge prices so here's a closer look at four each-way outsiders in the top-scorer market...
Vinicius Jr
Vinicius Jr has become one of the best forwards in the world in the past two seasons with Real Madrid.
The winger has formed quite a partnership with Karim Benzema and whilst it may seem like Karim is the one scoring all the goals, Vinicius has massively upped his goal output in the past two campaigns with 23 goals in 49 La Liga games.
For Brazil, he faces a similar scenario where he is not the main man with Neymar being their main scorer, but that won’t stop the Madridista from getting his name on the scoresheet.
Vinicius’ record for Brazil isn’t ideal with 16 appearances and one goal, but with how he has transformed himself into a goalscorer in the past few season, I almost wouldn’t take much notice of the stats. The one game he has played for Brazil this season he did score in so it looks like he’s off to a great start!
33/1 could represent some solid value for forward as he is expected to be starting almost every game at the World Cup given his recent achievements at club level.
Ferran Torres
Spain have been slowly backed into fourth favourites for the World Cup following a fairly decent Euro 2020 campaign. and have only one loss in their last 10 games. Spain have an abundance of talent these days with the likes of Dani Olmo, Pedri, Ansu Fati and even Marco Asensio.
The main man for us here is Ferran Torres who is coming into this World Cup with some decent playing time for Barcelona, and whilst his record of five goals in 18 games might not be the strongest, you have to consider Lewandowski is the man for goals at Barcelona.
Torres has often playing centre forward for Spain and as talented as their squad may be, they do lack some quality goalscorers.
Spanish fans will be hoping Torres is the man to provide goals and if he is playing down the middle then 50/1 with four places could be a great bet when you consider how well Spain are meant to be doing in this tournament.
Raheem Sterling
Raheem Sterling was arguably England’s best player at Euro 2020 as he scored his nation’s first three goals and up until the 8th minute in the round-of-16 was England’s only scorer at the competition. He, unfortunately, fell off a little bit towards the end but Raheem has always been about the goals.
We all know about Harry Kane and how he has adapted into a more creative striker, often falling back and playing vertical balls instead of hanging around in the box. This has actually worked to Raheem’s benefit these days as Kane is the one starting the attacks and Sterling is making the run.
With Raheem’s recent performances in major tournaments, 66/1 is solid each-way value with England being one of the shorter-priced teams heading into Qatar.
Dare I say it England also have a fairly ‘easy’ group so you’d be expecting Raheem to score a good few in the group stages as he is most likely to start every game.
Kevin de Bruyne
Kevin de Bruyne has slowly become one of the best players in world football and potentially even the best midfielder in Premier League history.
Of course, that is all up for debate, but one thing that isn’t up for debate is his record for Belgium.
- Games: 93
- Goals: 25
- Assists: 46
A massive boost has come for De Bruyne’s chances of some goals at the World Cup thanks to Romelu Lukaku picking up another injury just before the tournament. Lukaku is expected to still play in Qatar but will be missing the earlier stages.
Romelu was expected to be the main man in charge of penalties but KDB will now be the man to step up for The Red Devils.
De Bruyne already has a decent goalscoring record for a midfielder and now given the fact he will be on set-pieces and penalties, 80/1 could be a great EW shout for bookies that are paying five places.
