Republic of Ireland vs. Netherlands Betting Tips: Dumfries to shine in away win

Dublin is the destination as Ireland welcomes The Netherlands to the Aviva Stadium on Sunday night.
The last time these nations met was in 2016, it ended 1-1 in the Irish capital, although it was only a friendly.
The Oranje haven’t looked anywhere near their best in recent outings but cruised to a 3-0 victory over Greece on Thursday night.
Stephen Kenny’s men were outclassed in their 2-0 defeat at the Parc des Princes by the French on the same night, another tough test awaits.
Republic of Ireland vs Netherlands Tips
The Dutch claimed all three points on Thursday night in Eindhoven against Greece. Marten De Roon, Cody Gakpo and Wout Weghorst all found the back of the net inside the first half in a convincing 3-0 win.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite the same for the Irish side, they had the unwanted task of playing France in Paris. Les Bleus controlled proceedings, they had 68% possession, 25 shots and 700 passes with a 93% succession rate.
Stephen Kelly’s men managed just six shots and two corners on the night, their squad is underwhelming and I’m expecting a similar scoreline as they host Ronald Koeman’s side.
Holland are priced as big as 1.66 to win here, a reasonably attractive price. Combining that with there not being a huge amount of goals scored creates an odds-against price, something I’m willing to get behind.
Each of Holland’s last seven competitive wins have all ended with less than five goals. This Irish side doesn’t really pose much of a goal threat so it wouldn’t be a surprise if we see an away win coming to nil. Greece registered just six shots, with only a single attempt coming on target with a lowly 0.17xG.
For my longer-priced selection, I’m dipping into the player assists market as there’s a particular name that I’m looking to get onside. Denzel Dumfries is priced attractively to get himself amongst the action on Sunday night.
The rampaging wingback recorded two assists in Holland’s win over Greece on Thursday, he’s a dangerous attacking threat with his speed, power and height. He’ll be expected to have a lot of joy down the right side of the pitch against an Irish side who lack pace.
Inter Milan’s number 2 is already off the mark when it comes to assists in the Serie A this campaign. In his last 14 competitive appearances for his nation, Dumfries has notched up seven assists.
With the Dutchman’s recent record for his country, the 16/5 price appeals. I expect the visitors to have plenty of joy down the flanks as they look to widen the gap between themselves and the trailing pack in Group B.
