Plymouth vs Leicester Prediction and Betting Tips: Get behind Vardy to find the net

Leicester City travel down South to take on Plymouth on Friday evening. The Championship game can be seen live on Sky Sports and could have huge repercussions for both sides as we approach the business end of the campaign. Read below about our best bets. 

It’s been a fairly miserable 2024 for Plymouth, however after their 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday evening, they have now gone unbeaten in back-to-back matches for the first time since February. With just four games remaining The Pilgrims sit 20th in the league table, just two points above safety. 43 points separate themselves and league leaders Leicester and the hosts can be backed at 5/1 to cause an upset and take all three points on Friday. 

For the large majority of this season Leicester City looked like they would be the runaway winners of the Championship. All hasn’t gone to plan at The King Power in the last few months and The Foxes have tasted defeat five times in their last nine league outings. Leicester remain in pole position at the top of the table, level on points with Ipswich, although they do have a game in hand over The Tractor Boys. In the match result market, Leicester can be sided with at 4/9, while the draw is chalked-up at 4/1 with several firms.

Leicester look a little short in the 1x2 market to collect the three points on Friday, especially when you consider Plymouth are fighting for their lives and there may be a certain amount of nerves from the visitors as they look to close in on the Championship title. 

For our main play of the evening we are backing Jamie Vardy to find the net any time in the match. At the time of writing, BoyleSports are a standout best price at 5/4 on the veteran striker scoring, while several other firms have him priced at odds-on.

The Premier League winner has been in good form in the last few months and has eight goals to his name since the start of February, averaging just 66 minutes per goal. In total, Vardy has notched 14 times in the second tier this season and his experience may prove pivotal as he looks to guide his side back to the top-table of English Football. 

At 7/2, we’ve also had a few quid on the visitors to win the game and under 2.5 goals to be scored in the match. This could well be a cagey affair for both sides, with Plymouth expected to sit back and grind out a potential point as they look to try and steer themselves clear of the relegation zone. 

Eight of Plymouth’s last nine Championship matches have seen Under 2.5 goals land, however they have only been victorious in two of those, both of which came away from home. The Foxes have the quality to get the win here, but expect a tight contest that could well be a low scoring affair.
