Pep Guardiola Next Job Odds: Where could he go after Man City?

Last month Pep Guardiola revealed that he plans to leave Manchester City when his contract runs out in the summer of 2023.
“After seven years on this team, I think I’m going to have a stop. I’m going to have to take a break, see what we’ve done,” he said.
When the time comes there will be an almighty scramble for the signature of one of the greatest managers of all time, but which club or country will tempt the Spaniard to sign on the dotted line?
Here’s what the betting says...
Barcelona: 2/1
Guardiola amassed 14 trophies in four staggeringly successful seasons at his beloved Barcelona, including a treble in his first campaign. In total he won 179 of his 247 matches. Not bad. He then took a sabbatical due to a combination of the immense pressure and overwhelming fatigue. The lure of a return to Catalan will be strong, especially if by this point Barcelona have sorted out their dire financial situation.
Juventus: 9/4
Guardiola has struck gold in Spain, Germany, and England. Could Italy be next? He’ll no doubt be interested in adding yet another major European crown to his CV and the easiest route to the Scudetto is via Juventus who have won nine of the last 10 editions of Serie A. Guardiola would also be tasked with bringing home the Champions League trophy, although it’s a competition he’s not won in a decade.
Spanish National Team: 6/1
"I'd love that, I wish [Pep Guardiola] was the Spain coach. I'd love it - it would be perfect. What's more, I'd love to see our national team with his stamp on them. I don't think Spain could have a better coach."
This was a recent quote from Spain boss Luis Enrique, whose current contract runs out in 2022, although he’s in-line to sign a new deal to Euro 2024.
Guardiola to Spain is a tricky one given his loyalties to Catalan. “I can tell you that I don’t want him to lead the Spanish national team, I don’t think so,” Pep’s father said in May.
New York City FC: 10/1
We’ve seen the likes of Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry, and Phil Neville venture over to the MLS managerial arena in recent years, plus Guardiola’s old assistant Domenec Torrent, however the presence of Guardiola will shoot the league to a whole new level.
10/1 seems rather short on a switch to New York, however the club is owned by the City Football Group and Guardiola did spend his sabbatical in the Big Apple, and it’s not exactly a bad place to work is it..
PSG: 10/1
PSG's managerial conveyor belt has recently been graced with some of the most high-profile bosses in the business. Carlo Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel have both overseen the club, as has Unai Emery, while Mauricio Pochettino is now the man at the helm.
Guardiola is 10/1 to follow Pochettino out of the Premier League and over to Paris, which his current Abu Dhabi owners probably won’t be too happy about given their rivalry with Qatar.
Brazil National Team: 12/1
"I would like to train a South American (team), European, playing a Copa America, I want to have that experience," Guardiola told ESPN Brasil last month.
This will no doubt have pricked the ears of Brazil. At the moment they happen to be doing pretty well under current boss Tite who has lost just five of his 62 matches and has a 100% winning record in 2022 qualifying games to date. But come 2023 the narrative could be completely different.
“Pep could manage the Brazil team perfectly - and I am convinced he would improve it,” Guardiola’s former assistant Domenec Torrent said last year.
Any Qatar Sports League club: 14/1
Surprisingly short odds for this one, too slim for our liking. He did previously play for Qatar-based Al-Ahli though so you can’t rule it out completely.
Bayern Munich: 20/1
A return to Barcelona has long been speculated, but what about a return to Bayern where he could feel there’s a bit of unfinished business after failing to win the Champions League?
England national team: 25/1
Who knows, by 2023 Gareth Southgate could be a ‘Sir’ after propelling England to World Cup glory. However, if he’s left and The Three Lions job is available then they’d be a massive clamour for Pep to take it.
Argentina National Team: 25/1
Guardiola famously flew over to Argentina in 2006 where he met Marcelo Bielsa and received a masterclass in management. Guadiola soaked up everything he could during the pivotal meeting, and the rest is history. He’s been linked with the Argentina job in the past and will no doubt be a candidate in the future.
Man Utd: 33/1
Surely there’s no chance, but it would be funny.
Qatar National Team: 50/1
The only chance of this ever happening is for the upcoming 2022 World Cup, and Guardiola’s not going to leave Man City before then...is he?
Any Chinese Club: 50/1
At one point the Chinese Super League was attracting some pretty high-profile players and managers, however its star has since dimmed somewhat.
Inter Miami: 50/1
An alternative to Juventus should he fancy working in Italy, although Inter have money problems and have sold all their best players. Will be an interesting one to return to in a couple of years though.
Ajax: 66/1
One for the purists. Could we see Pep Guardiola follow in the footsteps of Johan Cruyff and restore Ajax to their past European glories?
Chelsea: 66/1
It seems unlikely that Guardiola would wish to stay in the Premier League, but if the money is right...
Newcastle: 100/1
From Steve Bruce to Pep Guardiola? How about that.
Liverpool: 100/1
For starters, Jurgen Klopp’s contract runs to 2024. Secondly, there’s a certain scouser patiently waiting in the wings for this job
Real Madrid: 100/1
There’s more chance of the UK winning Eurovision.
